However, as a result of the proficiency of the other presets on offer, this isn’t a dealbreaker; but it does make me wonder how such an oversight could have occurred. After all, Dwayne Johnson’s involvement is all over the box and is the main attraction for anyone after a pair of gym-ready headphones. The JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash earphones are designed for active lifestyles and are built to withstand rigorous workouts. They are constructed with premium materials, ensuring durability and longevity. These earphones are also sweat and water-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor use.

Active mode is best saved for runs, retaining a degree of noise-cancelling whilst letting in some ambient sounds to establish awareness of surroundings. The JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash earphones offer a reliable and immersive audio experience. With a headphone sensitivity of 95 dB and an impedance of 14 Ω, these earphones deliver clear and powerful sound. Weighing in at just 16 grams, they are lightweight and comfortable, making them suitable for extended use. It only takes two hours to charge the case fully, though there is no speed charge feature – like with the Jaybird Tarah Pro, which can cram in a workout’s worth of battery in only a few minutes. Performance The JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash do hold some attraction. They’re the first water-resistant true wireless earphones I’ve seen from a major manufacturer and, for that, both JBL and Under Armour should be commended. For the price, it’s surprising that the Flash by JBL uses micro-USB charging rather than USB-C. However, this seemingly archaic choice is forgivable since it takes just two hours to complete a full charge cycle. Plus, the water-resistant charging case provides an extra 20 hours of battery life, so it’s unlikely you’ll be without power. Connection quality is just okay In the effort to make the ear cushions comfortable, UA hasn’t forgotten about hygiene, either; these cushions can be removed and hand-washed. On the design front, UA clearly understands the needs of its users, and the only issue I had was a slight looseness around the ears when lying on a workout bench. If Under Armor can be thanked for the design, it’s clear JBL’s sound-engineering expertise drives the device’s feature set. Active noise cancellation is present, and there are two modes to choose from: Everyday and Active. READ NEXT: Our favourite Bluetooth headphones JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash review: Price and competition Everyday is the go-to default, and it does a fine job of keeping unwanted noise at bay. It isn’t quite as powerful as the noise-cancelling on Sony’s premium headphones, but it extinguishes the gym radio to a barely audible hum.

The Under Armour True Wireless feature Bluetooth 4.2 rather than the latest Bluetooth 5.0 standard, and there are occasions when the connection feels a bit patchy – though we never found it cut out entirely. Whenever a celebrity gets involved in a piece of tech, I can’t help but wince since it’s usually a warning sign for what’s in store. Will.i.am put his name to a number of bizarre products in the 2010s (does anyone remember the Puls smartwatch?), and who can forget Soulja Boy’s disastrous gaming console? (Clearly most of us have.)Why buy JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash X In-Ear Passive Noise Cancellation Truly Wireless Earbuds with Mic I’m pleased that JBL has considered outdoor activities; however, personally I’ve had more use out of the dedicated Ambient mode. There are a couple of options to choose from: Ambient Aware pulls in all external noise to be heard alongside music; TalkThru lowers the volume and hones in on nearby conversations so you can engage in chit-chat without removing the headphones. Utilizing Bluetooth version 4.2 and supporting A2DP, AVRCP, and HFP Bluetooth profiles, these earphones ensure seamless wireless connectivity with various devices. They offer a range of up to 10 meters, allowing for freedom of movement without losing connection quality. There’s also a function button on the left-hand ear-cup to summon the preferred digital assistant on a mobile device, or toggle between the Everyday and Active ANC modes. While I appreciate the button being there, it would have been nice had it delivered a bit more functionality, such as the ability to toggle various EQ presets. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earbuds, by comparison, probably have superior audio, but include difficult and imprecise touch controls, when it would have been simpler to remove some from the equation.
