Teva also offers this model in many brand collaborations, like Snow Peak, but the sandal remains the same. Though they both adjust the same, we prefer the padded webbing of the Terra Fi 4 (right) to the previously tested XLT 2. Aside from the Hurricane XLT 2, there are only two other sandals included in this review that have three independent points of adjustment—and one of them is another Teva. The Teva Hurricane XLT 2 Sandals in Toro Multi have a quick-dry webbing made from verifiable REPREVE polyester yarn by Unifi which supports your foot and is robust. It surprised me because the same insoles deal with water quite well, but for some reason the sweat seems to be completely different.

The quick-drying webbing is a blend of polyester, nylon, and recycled PET and features a neoprene cushioned heel pad that eliminates hot-spots. I have used these for morning errands in the mountains with temps hovering in the 40’s (F) and during blistering summer days upwards of 90 (F).This is Teva’s in-house sole, and the traction is greatly improved from previous versions of the Hurricane. The other straps could use a touch more padding and softer feel, but overall didn’t cause any issues (and I think they need more padding only because the heel has it! With all footwear, I really need to crank down the tension system, whether it’s laces, straps, BOA, etc. The outsole features decently deep treads set in firm rubber, though it's not quite as sticky as we've seen on others—possibly because it is made from non-marking rubber (bonus if you plan to get nautical).

But, in my humble opinion, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 should get universal love for the delightfully soft and supportive straps they use to keep your feet secure. The insoles are comfortable enough and dry quickly, but lose major points for how they deal with sweat.

However, the water-friendly webbing and three points of adjustment allowed for a secure fit even after the Hurricane had gotten wet. The Hurricane XLT 2 has a soft footbed that conforms to the foot and offers a moderate amount of arch support. The Hurricane XLT 2 builds upon the original style with some material selections that make for a better ride. Employing 100% REPREVE recycled polyester straps and supportive midsole, our iconic sport sandal is up for any adventure. A versatile summer staple designed with the next generation in mind, the Hurricane XLT2 Upcycle enlists soft, heel-strap padding and a rugged rubber sole that is ready to roam.

Teva also offers the Hurricane XLT 2 Cross Strap, which has the connector strap going across the foot, rather than to the side. The Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandals won’t break the bank, will perform in almost every scenario, and do their best to distance you from that AARP card. I actually own a (now-defunct) pair of the original Hurricane XLTs, and was stoked to try see what kind of updates the line received. We categorize hiking sandals in a few ways, with Open-Toe being one of the most flexible and common. The foam midsole doesn't lend the same amount of rigidity as some of the more rugged offerings, but it does cushion well on harder foot strikes. The quick-dry webbing is made from recycled plastic using traceable, verifiable REPREVE polyester yarn by Unifi. If you need extra-burly support with maximum stability, the Chaco Z/1 Classic is worth investigating. The classic Teva design utilizes three adjustable straps that run behind the heel and twice over the top of the foot for a secure, intuitive fit. The Teva XLT2 Hurricane Sandals are perfect for day and light hiking adventures, crafted with a new modern sole with rugged rubber construction that provides fantastic traction, while a lightweight EVA foam midsole adds extra cushioning for all day comfort. That said, the Hurricane XLT 2 sandals have a good amount of adjustability, which is good because I find myself tightening or loosening the straps fairly frequently.

The Teva Hurricane XLT 2 is a classic three-strap sandal that offers a few comfort and performance upgrades when compared to the original Hurricane. Made from EVA-foam, the insole requires no break-in period for your feet to feel comfortable and secure.

While it does have an inclination towards watersports, we feel both prepared and stylish in the Hurricane. The Hurricane XLT 2 sandals are a great choice for light hiking, strutting around town, playing in rivers and lakes, or pretty much any post-hike activity. The Hurricane XLT2 vegan Sandal from Teva has taken their iconic Hurricane XLT and given it a fresh comfort upgrade. I’m not sure why these aren’t offered in half sizes, so I imagine that they won’t grant the perfect fit to everybody, but they sure did for me! They’re plenty capable for shorter hikes over easy terrain and I found them to excel in the urban environment as well.
