Anti-Draft Baffle: Included for your convenience, the anti-draft baffle minimises unwanted air currents and draughts, maintaining atmosphere. Whole house mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) has become the ventilation ‘must-have’ for self build projects. (That said, such systems are not suitable for all new homes — more on which later.) The most controllable home ventilation systems are ‘active’ with fans to create either positive or negative pressure in the home. Often, carefully designed ductwork is used to balance the system across the building. Draught Reduction: The innovative design slows down air flow, minimising draughts caused by wind and changing air directions, ensuring optimal comfort. However, MVHR systems are not suitable for all new homes. The more airtight the house, the more effective the MVHR system will be, and it is generally accepted that 3m³/hr/m² level is necessary to see real benefits. The 1″ x 1 1/2″ x 4′ cross section gives you maximum soffit/eave ventilation in a minimum space. There are 10 sq. in. NFVA per lineal foot and the S-400 fits in narrow spaces where other vents can’t, like zero overhangs. The vent is s elf-cleaning – the vertical flute orientation doesn’t show the dirt.
