All three cameras of the Mavic 3 Pro Series drones support shooting 4K/60fps video, and all three cameras of the Cine version support Apple ProRes 422/422 HQ/422 LT codecs. No matter which version you choose, you will enjoy high-level professional creation. The extra hovering time available combined with the number of options available does encourage hovering with eyes away from the aircraft which isn’t an approach recommended by many aviation authorities. There’s no question that DJI is the global market leader for consumer and Enterprise drones, selling the commanding majority of products sold on the planet (somewhere between 70 and 80%). But DJI is also very watchful of competition, wanting to always stay ahead of the game.

The Mavic 3 is now the fully-featured drone it should have been at launch. And while the features available when it first arrived were more than enough for professionals and experienced drone pilots who typically use manual controls, the arrival of the missing features also makes the Mavic 3 much more beginner-friendly. The Mavic 3 is now the best prosumer drone you can buy, and one that could provide many years of service, thanks to the advanced features and fantastic image quality it offers. The Mavic 3 series uses the DJI Fly app, which also powers the Mavic Mini, Mini 2, Mavic Air 2, and Air 2S. First introduced in November 2019 with the Mavic Mini, the pared down, intuitive interface showcases all the photo modes on the same screen. DJI worked with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad to create a custom L2D-20c camera for the Mavic 3 series. Placed on the bottom, the main camera features a 20MP, Four Thirds CMOS sensor that has a 24mm (equiv.) lens with 84º FOV and variable F2.8-11 aperture. It can shoot still images in 12-bit Raw format. The entire dual-camera system is placed on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal. But this could just be wishful thinking. My disappointment comes from the fact that more abilities to customize your photo settings weren't included. DJI periodically updates its firmware, so the company could surprise us in the future. What's yet to come might offer the Hasselblad color profile, an optical zoom, and possibly even interchangeable lenses on an aircraft that can easily be carried around. Like the DJI Air 2S, the Mavic 3 also features APAS 5.0 (Advanced Pilot Assistance System). Although I didn’t test this feature, it is said to be DJI’s most advanced autonomous mode yet and capable of guiding the aircraft through dense foliage without crashing. Before first use, please make sure that the goggles and motion controller have been updated to the latest firmware version. Additionally, use DJI RC-N1, DJI RC, or DJI RC Pro to update the drone to the latest firmware version. Otherwise, the linking between the aircraft and the goggles and motion controller will fail.
