She has three children: Guy, Francis and Briony and didn't start writing until after the birth of her third child.

Not good - I used to enjoy some Katie Fforde crafted escapism as a guilty pleasure, and would devour her books on beaches. Recently her old hobbies of ironing and housework have given way to singing, Flamenco dancing and husky racing. I’m loving this series from Katie Fforde, this is such an amazing group of friends, is there nothing they can’t do?Lunch for 50 people tomorrow is resh soup for a starter, icoordination chicken 🐔 and bread and butter for dessert? Anton Du Beke– the King of Ballroom, Strictly Come Dancing royalty, and household name – is truly making his mark as one of this generation’s all-round entertainers. What I thoroughly loved about this story was the twist though, especially as it involved my favourite character.

Fortunately for Nightingale Woods, Meg arrives in the nick of time and recognises that the kind of charm this hotel offers is worth preserving, and she is not afraid to fight for its future. Grumpy, but devilishly handsome Justin couldn't believe that there was a woman in his fathers kitchen, women didn't belong in hotel kitchens and whats more she was the daughter of Louise who he was sure was a gold digger. Meg longs to be a professional cook, but in 1964 the idea of a female chef running a kitchen is considered ridiculous. It started off quite slow, I wasn’t as engrossed from the start as I normally am with a Katie Fforde book. Fforde’s amazing thirtieth novel and the last in a trilogy of standalone stories set during the 1960s, with each focusing on a different girl from a group of three friends who met at a cookery course in London. Grumpy/sunshine is usually a win for me but this one has missed the mark with me as it just didn’t hook me.

When Meg arrives the hotel it seems to be stuck in the past (Meg's mother) but she loves a challenge and sets to work. Just as Meg arrives, the chef who has caused all the trouble walks out, and she suddenly finds herself running a kitchen sooner than she has anticipated. Not that I want Meg to suffer long, but I felt that it was almost too easy for her to come and go wherever and whenever she pleased--the way she was able to come to help her mother was the first bit, with no actial deadline; then that split decision to leave for France; then to start her job with the chef; and even that she was supported to go. One Enchanted evening is everything you need in a novel when the weather outside demands you snuggle under a blanket with a good book. This was an absolutely delightful read, I believe that some of the characters friends of Megs are in a couple of previous books, which would explain how they met etc. Katie Fforde does an excellent job of painting beautiful descriptions of scenery throughout the story - readers will feel like they're right there with Meg whether she is in the delightful Dorset countryside or the rolling hills of Provence. and then I discovered that there were at least two other books written previously about the same group of friends.
