Of course, there is the option cut them off, but it’s an added task to do if you don’t actually need to!

If you want to play a guitalele like a tiny guitar then I really wouldn't bother getting one at all and look at travel guitars instead.I actually dropped the tuning down to terz out of concern that there might be too much tension on the bridge. So I got a cheap student CG from Carl Hellweg, who makes some very decent kid's guitars, and now have a beater though it is way more stressful on the airplane. I strung my Yamaha with standard D’Addario classical guitar strings and experienced a much better tone over whatever Yamaha was installing at the factory.

I am not 100% happy with the sound of some tones in higher positions, but it's still an improvement. So if your guitalele has bridge pins, you’ll need to use a work around to install loop or tie end strings. I can't really speak to Requinto strings but it looks like the typical scale length is roughly baritone uke or a little longer. Until now, it has always been necessary to increase a string’s gauge to reach lower frequencies, hence most Low G sets have previously included a wound string to achieve their purpose. I will say that as I was trying to test a song on the tiny fretboard, I did notice that these are quite sensitive to your nail technique, but with either no nails or well polished nails and good technique they sound lovely.
