the few posts i've seen have romanticized this book for being a "fun good girl x bad boy romance” with the added bonus of a boarding school setting and overall rich kid energy.I genuinely thought I would hate this because of the way the first book turned out and Taz repeatedly telling me this book is shit💀 but I’m so glad I enjoyed this one.

I’m a Lancaster, meaning I’m basically untouchable–or so I thought. It’s my family who owns this God forsaken private school that I don’t want to attend. First I did not care for the way Crew talked to Wren or about girls in general. Rude, mysogonistic made me disgusted with him instead of making me like him. Coming home late one evening after a few drinks Grant finds a woman in his bed. Whilst he doesn’t know who she is, he isn’t surprised that there is one there knowing that it is probably a surprise from his brother – a somewhat silly tradition between them. Sliding into bed he rouses the woman and finds her responsive to him, although there is something familiar about her.A festive/birthday return to see what Crew and Wren’s life looks like in the few years since they finished school and travelling. Married with a baby, willow, we join them in the days leading up to Christmas and of course Wren’s birthday which falls on Christmas Day. They are navigating life as new parents and Crew working for his older brother’s real estate company. The booktalk will start the last day of each month ( new members who have read the book in the past are very welcome to join). Books that are recommended can not be older that 2 years. There was the whole situation with Wren who was was smart enough to read all the red flags from her teacher, to see that her “friend” was clearly involved with him to simply not do ANYTHING?! The goody two shoes who would was outspoken about misdeeds? Give me a break! PROS: ̶c̶r̶e̶w̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶h̶u̶g̶e̶ I meant the characters and their development. Really beautifully written.

i’ve only read two of monica murphy’s books and that is “things i wanted to say, but never did” and then this one, i absolutely hated both. so i’m giving up on her books for now forever. But beyond that I wonder what is going through the authors mind… maybe she will give him a character development? I could get behind that.Wren and Crew are perfection and the chemistry they have is sizzling!
