After the short opening phase and during most of the drying phase, one is able to smell strong chords of lemon, thyme and tangerine with a hint of musk. Unlike similar summery scents, Artisan Pure is quite complex. This one is apparently one of the better performing of the John Varvatos range, I’ve not tried any of the others but can say that longevity and projection on this one seems to be average. 4 hours before it settles into a skin scent. As this has been my introduction into the range, I can safely say that its performance hasn’t made me want to avoid the rest (Vintage is something I’ve been eyeing next), so a thumbs up from me. It’s good, but obviously not a beast by any means. This is one to save for the hot weather and can be worn casually say at the beach, to even formal parties/work when pairing with a light coloured suit. Versatility is there, but it depends on the location and occasion (no to clubbing, but fine for a beach party in the night) I save this one for hot holidays abroad or on rare scorching days in the UK. This is one that I rarely pull out, but when I do I am in awe of the repose that comes with it.

Performance is completely ok for a fresh fragrance and it lasts a few hours with pleasant sillage. It also lasts quite long on clothing, which makes for a pleasant fresh touch with this fragrance. Otherwise the Sillage is something about very closely and top for hot temperatures and pleasant summer feeling.

Very Pay gives you a choice of ways to pay

I've been keen on this scent for a long time. Highly praised, hyped, often mentioned and also here he gets away with 7.9 very well. Especially since john Varvatos is also a brand that I like and is usually not represented in the big perfumeries and department stores. For me a great brand with fair prices. I definitely wanted to test this one. Hypes are not always justified for every taste, but I like to test such fragrances anyway. I find the concept very interesting for midsummer and warmer days. In the end, curiosity won and I bought this one blind. With more than 40 Euro a 75ml it is not cheap, but affordable and not a scent you can do a lot wrong with. Sillage: Here Artisan Pure shines - you can immediately perceive a hint of lemon without being overwhelmed. After a moment, the lingering ginger and musk lend this non-intrusive EdT a more subdued but pleasant presence. This one smells natural to me, no chemical synthetic nonsense with Artisan Pure. If you are a modern-day gentleman then I would pair you with this magic bottle. John Varvatos always have great presentation and with Artisan Pure, the bottle design continues the trend and shines. With its wooden cap, white opaque bottle wrapped with a white, flat willow-like material. The base of the bottle is also wooden and is a perfect representation of what the fragrance is trying to be. It looks natural and summery, just as the smell is.

And although Artisan Pure was launched as a men's fragrance, I can well imagine that it can also be worn as a feminine fragrance - the powdery dry period allows the fragrance to remain present even in hot, humid weather, while the thyme and citrus notes give it new life. Shelf life: I was really surprised how long Artisan Pure lasted on my skin - I could still feel it 6+ hours later! My closing remark is that this feels like Versace pour Homme minus tonka bean and 4x the neroli - they are really that similar even though VPH lasts about an hour, is plain and boring, but also cheap. Flacon: as always with this range - unbelievably pretty and cool, high quality and attention to detail! The best flacons in the designer market?! Above all a scent for everyday life and leisure for the warmer season. Due to the gentle and slightly creamy nuances, it is actually also unisex suitable. Versatility: Given the presence of musk and ambergris underground, I can see how the citrus and aroma chords work from the beginning of spring to the end of autumn.
