Because it does have a fun premise: guy with the magical ability to pull objects from books into the real world tries to figure out why vampires are killing off magic users! This ability does not come without cost, as it requires energy to manifest the items, and if the ability or book is overused, the characters from the book can possess the Libromancer and the fabric of reality can be threatened.

but I can assure you that anyone, even someone who hasn't found "that" book to infuse their love of reading, can pick this up and enjoy it. However, I’ll definitely be continuing with the series, and I heartily recommend it to any urban fantasy fan who loves books in and of themselves.I suppose one of the big factors in not quite making me happy is the central conceit: that books are magical and magicians can pull things out of books, but the things have to fit through the space of the book's pages, and not be living intelligent beings.

The allusions to other popular novels only heightened the reading experience as it places fictional characters in the real world. Objects that can cause extinction level events and give out things like immortality are locked down so no one else can access them. Gargle Blaster: One of the things that libriomancers do for fun is extract fictional drinks from books. They're looking for information behind attacks on the vampires and are ready to drain him to get it. The world in this book is of the normal Urban Fantasy style, it's our world, but with a magical world going on behind the scenes. For example, the vampire groups include the Sanguinarius Meyerii, who were infected by Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series, and the Stokerus vampires, who date back to Bram Stoker's Dracula. Nos plantea un mundo en que ciertas personas pueden desarrollar la magia de extraer artefactos descritos en libros, quienes son conocidos como “libromantes”. That is incorporated into the story in many ways but the most obvious one is via its main female character, Lena, the kick-ass dryad.

Isaac Vainio is a Libriomancer, a member of the secret organization founded five centuries ago by Johannes Gutenberg and the main hero in this series. Any given libriomancer has access to an arsenal consisting of the entire recorded imagination of mankind. The ending hinted at a possible three way romance between Isaac, Lena and the psychologist, which resulted in major eyerolls. The best example of this is the book-long consideration of Lena’s nature as a character that had been created to serve someone else’s needs, even to the point of physical changes in her body. Siendo que también son dos de mis géneros favoritos, lo he pasado realmente genial con esta lectura.

Rules like Libriomancers can only pull out smaller objects, no bigger than the size of the open book which is the magical "window" to the world of the book. I went into this book not expecting too much, when I read the blurb it just sounded really goofy, but since my library had it and I'd read some good reviews I decided to try. He's also the author of the PRINCESS series of fairy tale retellings as well as the humorous GOBLIN QUEST trilogy. And Hines definitely knows his audience well as he was very kind to include a bibliography of all the books mentioned in 'Libriomancer' (I am so disappointed that 'Renfield' isn't a real book.
