Milo and I have been looking forward to this half-term for what feels like FOREVER - we're finally going to the National Space Centre, to meet a real-life space engineer! This is a highly amusing, fast-paced debut in a very promising new detective series. The humour is deft, the dialogue great and Anisha’s multi-generational British Indian family is an inclusive and wonderful world to escape into. This book is delightfully illustrated by Emma McCann in an expressive and amusing way – and the graphic elements of the text make this book accessible and a fun read. Great for children who like to laugh while they’re reading and perfect for fans of Pamela Butchart. We can’t wait to read the next book in the series, especially after reading the taster chapter at the end of the book!

My drawing is usually fuelled by tea and scones; I feel it is my right and proper duty to undertake scientific research into Cornwall's best cream tea and I take it very, very seriously. It's finally time for our Year 6 residential trip, and we're off to the beach! I can't wait for three days having fun with my friends, learning about animal habitats and being free from grown-ups. We might even win a prize for our project!My daughter loved this book. It has great relatable characters, it's funny and it has an exciting storyline which involves investigating with friends. It's great to see a more diverse main character and also to learn about her family's culture and beliefs as part of the story. Are these accidents or is someone trying to sabotage the school play? Anisha needs to investigate! Will Anisha be able to save the production? Except, Granny Jas has turned up as a surprise chaperone, and she won't stop showing everyone my embarrassing baby photos. And now someone is messing with our habitat project - breaking things and dumping litter on the beach. My daughter is still very much enjoying having her own detective agency with her friends where they pretend to solve mysteries (lost cats and missing items!) with a little notebook to write down clues (amongst other essential props!) It's Halloween and everyone is excited about the school disco. It's a bit much for me - all that dressing-up and dancing. I'd rather cosy up with a good book, but Milo, Mindy and Manny are all super excited.

Things start to go wrong though. First of all the roof collapses and then there's a star shaped hole in the stage curtain.
