Description

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is a performance-segment graphics card by AMD, launched on July 30th, 2021. Built on the 7 nm process, and based on the Navi 23 graphics processor, in its Navi 23 XT variant, the card supports DirectX 12 Ultimate. This ensures that all modern games will run on Radeon RX 6600 XT. Additionally, the DirectX 12 Ultimate capability guarantees support for hardware-raytracing, variable-rate shading and more, in upcoming video games. The Navi 23 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 237 mm² and 11,060 million transistors. It features 2048 shading units, 128 texture mapping units, and 64 ROPs. The card also has 32 raytracing acceleration cores. AMD has paired 8 GB GDDR6 memory with the Radeon RX 6600 XT, which are connected using a 128-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 1968 MHz, which can be boosted up to 2589 MHz, memory is running at 2000 MHz (16 Gbps effective). Overall the Radeon RX 6600 XT is the faster GPU, which we already knew from previous testing, but the margin is slimmer than first thought. The delta between the two GPUs will always depend on the games used for testing – or in your case, the games you actually care about. Ray tracing performance seems fairly even in the few titles we tested, though we'd say the RTX 3060 has better support right now overall. If you're confused by the 3060 Ti pricing, it is very close to the 3070 Ti after all, that's because the demand for the 3070 Ti from miners is lower as all 3070 Ti models are 'Lite Hash Rate' and therefore aren't as efficient for cryptocurrency mining. Today we'll be taking real-world pricing data and comparing it across a much larger 30 game sample to see which GPU offers gamers the most value. We'll also take a look at ray tracing performance in the new F1 2021, along with Metro Exodus Enhanced which is a follow-on from the Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Resident Evil Village, and Watch Dogs Legion results which were featured in the original review.

For those interested, here's what 4K gaming performance looks like. As games become more demanding, the 3060 Ti should still be able to deliver a 60 fps experience for the most part, while the 6600 XT could fall off a cliff due to its limited bandwidth. Previously we saw that the 6600 XT was 9% slower than the 3060 Ti at 1080p, then 16% slower at 1440p and here at 4K it's 26% slower. Power Consumption This is an excellent graphics card for gaming, thanks to AMD’s RDNA2 Architecture. This GPU has support for DirectX Raytracing (DXR), Variable Rate Shading (VRS), and AMD FidelityFX technology, to create a hyper-realistic and immersive gaming experience. What is AMD RDNA2 Architecture?

F1 2020 is another game where the 6600 XT is close to overkill at 1080p, rendering 163 fps on average using the highest in-game quality settings. That saw it trail the 3060 Ti by a 6% margin while besting the standard 3060 by a 12% margin, though at the end of the day you could just call it a 5700 XT.

I know this is a lot to ask but given the ridicolous MSRP you might want to design a benchmark of discounted games (you could use isthereanydeal to see which ones have been at least once 50% off) that would be good to use with lower end cards or ones available used for acceptable prices. This will not change as long as global GPU shortage is lasting. You're misunderstanding the argument: I do not care about their profit over my own money expenditure. I understand perfectly well they're Companies and their only purpose in their usable life is maximizing profit for their shareholders.

Of course, availability . . but, hopefully the smaller Navi 23 chip can be produced in greater quantity.
