Tatiana also visits her daughter, Grace, when she is taken to the Silent City and strips her of her powers. Book Genre: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Paranormal, Romance, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult, Young Adult Fantasy so i get that christopher had to die. but did it have to happen in that unfeeling way? yes, there was an interlude signifying the “grieving” period of everyone but it wasn’t all that realistic. all of them seemed to be more torn up about losing james & matthew to belial tbh and no one except grace even seemed to feel much for him!! that was how i knew the characterizations were all wrong, with that part of the book. thomas was apparently christopher’s closest companion and yet grace felt more for christopher than he did — make it make sense. Cordelia has lost everything that matters to her. She has witnessed her father'smurder, her plans to become parabatai with her best friend, Lucie, destroyed, and her marriage to James crumble before her eyes. Even worse, she is now bound to an ancient demon, Lilith, stripping her of her power as a Shadowhunter.

Though Grace comes to warn them of her mother’s plan, Tatiana still shows up with her army of Chimera-possessed bodies. Matthew was also able to tell James, and his parents, Henry and Charlotte Branwell about how he had accidentally poisoned Charlette with what he thought was a truth serum when he was a child, causing her to have a miscarriage.Ariadne’s mother murmured assent, but Ariadne was troubled. The Consul and her closest advisor didn’t visit in person because they were merely eager for news. Something had them worried; something they had not mentioned to Flora. Chain of Thorns ends with Matthew embarking on a journey of self-discovery with his dog Oscar Wilde (as in, an actual dog, not the author).

For time is short, and Belial’s plan is about to crash into the Shadowhunters of London like a deadly wave, one that will separate Cordelia, Lucie, and the Merry Thieves from help of any kind. Left alone in a shadowy London, they must face Belial’s deadly army. If Cordelia and her friends are going to save their city—and their families—they will have to muster their courage, swallow their pride, and trust one another again. For if they fail, they may lose everything—even their souls. In fact it was really fun for me to come up with a family tree that was massively misleading. Remember, family trees are found objects — they contain only as much information as whoever drew them had. Secret marriages, arranged marriages, people being secretly dead, people being secretly other people: the family tree doesn’t reflect any of that. In fact, some of the most important characters (One of whom is a certain JH’s parabatai) don’t appear on the family tree at all.Will/Tessa/Jem were the one and only exception. She did that well, but recycling it for this series was just not it. yes i cried cause of them ngl 😭 and then cordelia mentioning that after they got together, they never stopped touching each other, just those lil touches to show “you mean the world to me” kill me now i love them so much. i need so much more of them <3 Tessa chooses Will in The Infernal Devices because she loves him and knows she can be happy with him. However, she is still in love with Jem and they eventually end up together in The Dark artifices, after Jace Herondale’s heavenly power burns the demon blood in Jem and heals him.

Also it's sad but I came to realize halfway through the book that herondaisy has lost its appeal for me. Like truly Im happy that theyre happy but no joke their whole relationship... they just seemed more physically attracted to each other here rather than actually emotionally in love? In COG and COI they had so much more precious and wholesome scenes than in COT... It also shows how the events that happened in “The Infernal Devices” still affect the future with Tessa’s Lineage and how the Clave has been set up depending on what side or position they were in during the events of “The Dark Artifices”. Which has led to a little bit of Politics and internal drama. This book is told from several characters' points of view, namely: Cordelia, James, Lucie, Thomas, Ari, Grace, Anna, and briefly Jesse, Alastair, Brother Zachariah, and Letty Nance. In conclusion, when chain of gold came out i promised myself this would be the last Cassie Clare series i would read but i wish i hadnt even bothered. Cassie peaked in Lord of Shadows and nothing will change my mind.James and Cordelia must save London—and their marriage—in this thrilling and highly anticipated conclusion to the Last Hours series from the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Cassandra Clare. Chain of Thorns is a Shadowhunters novel. We are so thrilled to present to you the… ‘Chain of Thorns’ Exclusive Edition, brought to you in collaboration with @cassieclare1and @walkerbooksya! I could never hate you, for all my hate is reserved for myself. I have none left over for anyone else." Alastair’s character development might have been the best character delevopment. I like how he grew into himself and let go of a lot of things. I liked who he was at the end. It was very lovely to watch. (I was reviewing this and I realised I said watch rather than read. That’s because I see the stories in my head like I’m watching it 🙂 ) thomastair holding this book up — we love to see it. for thomas & alastair alone i’d give this 5 stars if i could. they are and always will be everything to me. and alastair being so free with his smiles and thoughts because of thomas? pls — i adore him, and them, so much. and not alastair being so cute with his baby brother and singing him persian lullabies and just taking care of him 😭🥰 i just love him. his development was so profound and i loved seeing him grow from being this brutal, broken, angry boy who wanted to hurt others and had the capacity to love but never showed it, to being so soft with everyone he cares about, like cordelia and thomas.

I just finished reading Chain of Thorns, and I was fully on the edge of my seat to find out which of my beloved characters was going to make it out of this book alive! Really the only two-person non-romantic relationship that was built and developed SO PERFECTLY is Cordelia and Alastair's sibling relationship. It's messy, honest, protective, deep, funny and literally everything like my heart is filled with love. When Cordelia said to Alastair, "I am not sure we choose who we love. I rather think love is something like a book written just for us, a sort of holy text it is given to us to interpret. And you are refusing to read yours." JUST MY HEART how far their relationship has come <3James and Cordelia must save London—and their marriage—in this conclusion to the Last Hours series from author Cassandra Clare. This is so she would have access to the bodies of the dead Silent Brothers and Iron Sisters so she could let the Chimera demons into their bodies and they would become Belial’s army. I have always joked in all the other books that there was some sort of love Pentagram, not a triangle, everyone was in a relationship or situation ship of some sort. Cordelia Carstairs — a young Shadowhunter who believes her life is over now that she is the sworn paladin of Lilith.
