When Ophelia does the unthinkable in the eyes of the hunters, she is cast out and lives a life away from all of it. Regardless, it had my attention and set up a world I’m eager to know more about, sooooo…can’t complain.

This was a very enjoyable read that had a little paranormal, and little ovegaverse, but still was fairly unique in its own way. I think the way the author used that trope was perfectly done here as it wasn't used just as the third act conflict but right from the beginning. Since this is a romance, the focus is mainly on the characters and their relationship, but there’s also an intriguing plot and fascinating world-building! I will say, I adored this book, but I still don’t know where the title comes from, nor what it means. Superbia is the second book in the series and released on March 1, 2023, so now is the perfect time to start this series. I don't know if this story would be as good as it was for me without all of the sexual tension and actual sex. I am so excited to read the rest of the series, and cannot wait to explore more from Colette Rhodes! Ophelia’s parents found some explicit pictures of a Shade(shadow demon) when she was in her late teens and she gets banished from the community.I liked how the relationship between shades and hunters was flipped and explored but some quicker pacing would have been nice. Allerick, while thick headed, was a loveable and endearing alpha hero and really just wanted to do right by his people and his Ophelia. This is the first book in the Shades of Sin series and I sincerely hope there is more in this world. My only complaint is that I wanted to better understand the councils and have a bit more background on that but maybe that will be explored in other books that have Hunters in them. Was having trouble finding this specific edition (didn't like the UK edition's cover, and there are quite a few different versions of this book existing) so very glad I found it from here!
