The Kirkland Signature wedges are not forged clubs, so don’t expect butter (that’s down a different aisle in Costco). If you are a beginner, intermediate or high handicapper who has a beginner golf club set or game improvement irons with chunky wedges and you’re after more control the Kirkland wedges are a great pick. Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). So many amateur golfers are playing with mismatched golf equipment and big gaps between their wedges. Golf equipment coming from Costco doesn’t necessarily have the same design and development team that Mizuno or Titleist does, so I was pretty impressed. As you change wedges and the shots you hit require small technique adjustments, the consistency of the look and shape made these alterations easier to make. you won’t notice as much difference between these and top-of-the-range wedges – a premium urethane-cover golf ball is responsible for most of the spin inside 30 yards. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not terrible, but the quality of the grips feels noticeably worse than the quality of the shafts and club heads.

The only issue I found with the Kirkland wedge was the sole: There are no grinds or sole relief on it, so when you have to manipulate the club head to hit a shot, like a flop, it had very poor turf interaction and made the shot more difficult.

It seems that once again Costco has come out with a good club and one that can be had for a great value.

I'm trying to figure out the correct knock-down shots with both to make hitting the green (or at least distance to) a bit more automatic. Absolutely loved the 60 degree from the start—great feel to it, great spin, easy to use around the greens. The market would be in good place if everyone could keep product on the shelf and the pandemic wasn't hurting everyone. For instance, if you had a shot from the rough, a tight lie, to a short pin, or to a long pin, can you hit the shot you need to? In fact, I saw so much spin that I was consistently losing a couple of yards of carry compared to my gamer wedges. All of these clubs performed well on most of the shots I tried, including chips, flops, and pitches. There will be players that pick clubs that their favorite pro hits, there will be the one brand player, the off the rack with no fitting, the I just want cheap equipment, those that want multiple options from the OEM, and those willing to change a shaft and maybe take a grinder to it. FWIW, I have found that my Kirklands actually fly farther than my Titleists did (almost 10 yards), so I’d hit some shots before getting it bent.

The relatively inexpensive wedges combined with that decent quality and performance meant version one proved hugely popular and there’s every suggestion the latest release will follow suit. In testing, these wedges lost 6-12 yards on a full wedge shot compared to my Mizuno wedges with Dynamic Gold S300 shafts of the same loft, lie and length. Like Costco’s wedges, the previous iterations of the Kirkland Signature golf ball were also big sellers, and the upcoming version three is unlikely to be any different. From the image and description, the wedges will continue to feature milled faces to maximize spin, and it also looks like they have modernized the sole grind. I reviewed and currently play the Cleveland ZipCore wedges, and I also checked the Honma TW wedge in the past.Another factor that is worth mentioning is the consistency across these wedges – the progressive center of gravity helps improve forgiveness and control throughout the set. This is doubly surprising because Costco’s other Kirkland Signature club, the KS1 putter actually has a SuperStroke grip on it. There are no specific grind or bounce options in the new Kirkland wedges; the clubs are sold as they are. Costco Wholesale Corporation, under the Kirkland Signature™ brand, has started to make waves in the golf equipment market. We’ll break this down into two areas as wedges tend to react differently with lower velocity shots (within 30 yards) and higher velocity shots (75 yards and over).
