She trains with us because her lectures clash with the adult sessions and she says she prefers mornings. Overall I can only give this one 2 stars because while it wasn't awful, it's not one I would pick up again. I was so curious about this new book, Cross Her Heart, and wondered if Sarah would take this story to the same level of crazy as the previous one. I gasp and flinch and then laugh in the way everyone does when goosed, even though the shock isn’t funny.

After a brief, ominous section set in an unde­fined “After,” the Cross Her Heart moves to “Now,” which is broken up among a number of alternating first-person, present-tense narrators.

I could see a little of myself in her and maybe that was the reason I warmed to her as quickly as I did. I’ve heard so much about the ending, but have miraculously avoided any spoilers as to what the ending is, so I really do need to get on and read it (and i’ve probably said that before :D). She loves her daughter Ava and in fact the majority of her actions are taken with Ava’s well being in mind. I had been warned previously that what you see isn’t necessarily what you end up getting with a Pinborough novel.Instead, she remains a credible portrait of a person still tor­mented by memories of her past failings, as well as a mother determined to do what she can to find, rescue, and protect her daughter from whoever has abducted her. She doesn’t stay in the dorms but at her mum’s house here in Elleston and so she hasn’t really got into university life.

I absolutely loved the fantastical Behind Her Eyes and although this one’s more normal (well that’s debatable but it’s not fantasy anyway) it’s brilliant in its own genre. Another identity was constructed for her and her daughter, one which comes to a sudden end when the media ferrets out Lisa’s past life and the crime associated with it.I was also excited to read that the television rights to Cross Her Heart have already been bought by the British production company World Productions, who are behind incredible series such as Line of Duty and Save Me. I have to say, though, that even though I am pretty strictly a romance reader, I didn’t miss it in this one.
