Finally, each chapter ends with a transcription of meetings he had with a psychologist who read an earlier draft of the book.

Mack is of distant part-Irish descent, which was explored in the 2018 season of the British television programme Who Do You Think You Are? I was excited about this book (as the release was pushed back at least a dozen times), I'm not sure why as I'm not the biggest fan of Lee Mack but I do find him very funny, quick witted and (at least on the face of it) very genuine.Even the fact he has a stage name – he was born Lee McKillop – helps separate the professional life from the personal.

He also admits that making it into TV was by coincidence and that he considers himself a comedian first and foremost. And why he thinks the remake was doomed to fail from the start, which is something that plagues a lot of American remakes. This is a very funny memoir that shines a light on the comedy beginnings of Lee Mack and gives you a lot of inside knowledge about his brilliant sitcom Not Going Out. If you're running a script or application, please register or sign in with your developer credentials here. The latter led him to a job as a stable boy with legendary trainer Ginger McCain, where he got to ride Red Rum.He went to Birkdale Primary Junior School (Bury Road), Stanley High School in Southport, and Everton High School in Blackburn. J'ai beaucoup aimé ce livre, si Lee Mack est clair et assume éviter certains sujets (ses enfants), il se livre totalement sur sa carrière, ses états d'esprit.

When Lee Mack’s autobiography, Mack the Life , arrived in the post, I thought What the hell kind of editor let a comedian get away with his first book clocking in at 415 pages? Because he goes into detail about what he considers the biggest difference in British and American mentality, which I think is quite spot on. He also learned that his grandfather Joe was born in Southport, but was taken to Ireland as a baby and brought up by his grandparents in Ballina, County Mayo. Lee takes that to heart in explaining where he comes from, and how we arrived at where he is now, a comedian famous enough for clips of his shows to be uploaded onto an international video platform where I, a person on the other side of the Atlantic from his home country, can see them, enjoy them, look for more, and eventually, want to know even more about him from himself, leading to the reading of Mack the Life, his autobiography, which I have just explained is great.

I was excited for this audio book, and having read the print copy several times, I was intrigued as to how Lee would deal with the psychiatrist dialogue.
