The exact way that this happens is not fully understood, but it is thought that very high frequencies cause liquids to move and create “hydrodynamic forces” which damage the plaque layer in hard to reach areas ( 1). This intense vibration agitates fluids that surround the teeth and can loosen and remove dental plaque in locations that are beyond the physical touch of the toothbrush. To have this effect the waves actually need to be working at a much higher speed, in the ultrasonic range, greater than 20,000 Hz. The 5100 offers 3 modes: clean, gum care and white. It has two buttons allowing you to easily switch between these modes to find the one that you like the best. It also comes with 2 W2 Optimal White brush heads, which is nice since Sonicare brush heads are some of the most expensive on the market. 6100 Charging is done using the included induction charger which plugs into a wall outlet. One complaint we had for most of these brushes is that the charging cord is a bit short and this one is only 100 cm (40 inches). Electric toothbrush charging test results

The in-built pressure sensor alerts you when you are brushing too hard to ensure that you do not damage your teeth and gums. Dental Professionals recommend to replace your brush head every 3 months, however we understand it can be hard to remember when you switch brush heads and is your current brush head still okay to use? Our NEW brush head replacement reminder technology measures your usage and brushing pressure and alerts you to replace your brush head when it’s no longer performing optimally to ensure you are consistently getting the best cleaning results. Naturally, as you move up the pricing range the number of brush features increases, but for us the 4300 more than covers the basics. Sonicare Comparison Chart Despite claiming Sonicare win this category, Oral-B tends to offer more features on cheaper brush handles. More cleaning modes, a pressure sensor and Bluetooth connectivity on models that are cheaper than Sonicare, allowing those with a restricted budget to get more for their money. For example, you also have to consider your technique – how you brush with an electric toothbrush. Both types of toothbrush need a different technique to manual toothbrushes. In addition, you get a bluetooth connection so that you can record and monitor your brushing sessions using the Sonicare app. So this is the first brush in the Sonicare line up that will give you some smart features.Oral-B does offer a travel case, that allows you to charge the brush inside. However, you need to take a proprietory travel adapter, not the internationally accepted USB power cable. This is where the Sonicare lineup gets a bit strange. Notice right away that there is a DiamondClean series and a DiamondClean Smart series, and if you look these brushes up, you will notice a huge difference in price. This is because they really are brushes of a different bristle.

Sonicare vs Oral-B: 2023 head-to-head (UK) - Electric Teeth Sonicare vs Oral-B: 2023 head-to-head (UK) - Electric Teeth

The Sonicare equivalent to the Pro 3 3500 is the ProtectiveClean 4300. It does compete well and is a good alternative, but for superior value, Oral-B is the winner. So, at the bottom of the Sonicare line is the DailyClean series. These are the most basic and inexpensive sonicare brushes you can buy starting at under 30 euros (310 SEK / 27 GBP). There are 3 main model numbers, 1100, 2100, 3100. You can also get the 3200 and 3500 which are 3100s with extra stuff. The 3200 comes with a whitening brush head and the *500 designation usually means you get a travel case. Overall, research does support the Oral B technology as being better at removing plaque than the Sonicare technology. There are individual studies in favour of each respective company. Both are better than using a manual toothbrush. You can also find a 9750 which is the 9700 plus the deluxe brush head storage case. You can buy this accessory separately.
