Description

To lower your carbon footprint, commit to reducing your consumption and waste — don’t fall for these marketing ploys.

Aspire Vero has got all the ports and connectivity options to keep you accessible and productive every step of the way, wherever your eco-friendly lifestyle takes you. Acer claims that the Vero is saving “around 21 percent” in C02 emissions compared to a “regular” plastic laptop chassis of the same size. Available in world-reminiscent colors that echo the natural splendor of what we’re trying to protect. With a video test running and the display at a moderate brightness level the Acer Aspire Vero lasted for twelve hours.

The display may not be stellar and the webcam positioning is a farce but it’s still a well-made and handsome device that offers good value for money. The four arrow keys are less than full size to accommodate the addition of the numpad, which is a big sacrifice. The Aspire Vero is made with Post-Consumer Recycled plastics (PCR) – reclaimed plastics that have been recycled and repurposed to aid in our effort to reduce global waste. For our benchmark comparisons, I pitted the Vero against its 2-in-1 cousin the Acer Spin 5; another convertible in the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1; and two consumer clamshells, the HP Pavilion Plus 14 and the VAIO FE 14. It may be the last hurrah of the Tiger Lake line before Intel releases its 12th gen chips and tries to claw back some of the ground it has recently lost to AMD’s Ryzen processors.

In an undemanding video run-down test it lasted six hours 56 minutes, but in general, light involving writing documents with a little web browsing use we found it could drop to just below five hours.I’m pretty much a touch typist so don’t glance at the keys with any great frequency, but I still find it distracting. Acer has ensured that removal is easy, hopefully persuading you to upgrade, repair, and eventually recycle your machine without hassle. Acer has tried to lower those costs a little with the Aspire Vero – here’s our Acer Aspire Vero review.

Reusable packaging – as well as using recycled materials and being recyclable again, the Vero's box can be transformed into a laptop stand for an even smaller carbon footprint. The RE letters represent the four key parts of Acer’s environmental philosophy: Review, Rethink, Recycle, Reduce.I rather like this and I suspect that, being unpainted, it will stay looking good for longer than a more conventional finish. The Acer Aspire Vero is a little different on the outside, though, with a case and keyboard made partially from recycled plastic.
