It’s important to note that this particular piece of red oak was very red. Normally our red oak will stain more similarly to the red oak plywood that will be shown next. There you have it! The richest of all the gray stain options we considered, carbon gray is truly a beautiful stain color. It’s hard to tell from this photo (you can see it better in the side-by-side photo above) but I could see hints of blue undertones in this stain option, giving way to a very dark navy gray wood stain color. Varathane Gray StoneAs the name suggests, you can’t go wrong choosing this weathered gray stain color. Not quite as dark as the Carbon gray, but still a dark grey color. I also detected a dark blue undertone on this stain, as well. As you can see from the photo at the top of the post, this color almost looks navy when paired next to the Carbon Gray. Aged Barrel When teak garden furniture is standing outside, stains will always occur due to bird droppings, splashing sand or simply by using your table. Teak Cleaner has been invented for this, a product that makes it easy to clean stains. Every treatment of your teak furniture starts with cleaning the wood by using Teak Cleaner. For each stain, we opened the can and stirred the stain until we could no longer feel any pigments at the bottom of the can. Grey wood stains tend to have a lot of color pigments that settle at the bottom of the can, which is why it’s super important to thoroughly stir before starting.

Minwax Rustic BeigeThough we sanded the wood and prepped it as normal, this particular piece of red oak also didn’t accept as much stain as most pieces do. You can see the color of the stain in the grains, but the rest of the piece still remains pretty red on most of the pieces.
