Multiple Sonos speakers are connected to one another via Wi-Fi, so they do not require a cabled connection between the speaker system. You can only stereo pair two of the same model of Sonos speakers. This means you need two Play:1s, two Ones, two Era 100s or two Fives, for example. You can not create a stereo pair with different model Sonos speakers, like a One and an Era 100. SL and non-SL varieties of a speaker count as the same speaker, for pairing purposes. You can create a stereo pair with a One and a One SL, or a Roam and a Roam SL.

To connect the Sonos speaker to the TV via Bluetooth, you will need to use your TV’s streaming service and connect to the Sonos speaker as a Bluetooth device. For example, if you use Hulu, you can go to the Settings section and, while the Sonos Bluetooth-enabled speakers are turned on and ready to connect, you will select this speaker. If you have a PC — or a Mac and you don't want to use AirPlay — another option is using a line-in (or aux) connection. For this, you need to have a Sonos speaker (or preferably two of them for a stereo pair) that supports a line-in connection; there are only three Sonos speakers that support a line-in connection: Era 100, Era 300 and the Five (as well as the discontinued Play:5). The thing is, even if every one of the 21 million Sonos speakers ever sold were bought solely for their audio quality or multi-room capabilities, Sonos itself cares about design. The company takes pride in delivering premium, intricately-designed, devices. So much so it took several years to design and deliver the Playbase. Every single detail was meticulously planned. It even senses which way it’s orientated and automatically adjusts the EQ for maximum dispersion – and this thing will fill a room far better than you might expect. Streaming You might be planning on pairing the two devices in this way, but if you have overlooked the fact that one of these two components is not Bluetooth-enabled, then you might be thoroughly disappointed when you find out that you have to seek out another solution.

There's no Google Assistant, however. Sonos says this is due to a change in the technical requirements for Google Assistant on third-party devices. The company told us in a statement: "We’re evaluating these requirements, but it’s a heavy engineering lift and we’ll continue to prioritize work that builds on our vision of voice assistants all working concurrently. We remain hopeful that Google Assistant will be part of this ecosystem one day, but that’s really up to Google." This might seem like a roundabout way to connect your speakers, but it really is pretty simple once you have both the transmitter and your speakers enabled. With that in mind, there are a few Sonos devices that are meant to connect to a TV. The Sonos Beam and Sonos Arc are perfect for your TV streaming- whether it is for music or movies. If you are going to connect your Sonos speaker to your TV via Bluetooth, then you will need to make sure that both the speaker and the TV are Bluetooth-enabled. While this might seem obvious to some, it can be a complete oversight to even the most experienced audio enthusiast. So, to prevent you from hearing the punch line of a joke 20 seconds after it has been delivered on-screen, the cabled connection ensures that the audio is streamed on time. Instead of having to plug each speaker into the next one and running multiple cables throughout your audio streaming area, you can simply connect them over Wi-Fi and omit the jumble of cords.

Sonos Play:3 review | What Hi-Fi?

Everything works seamlessly together over WiFi. Start with one room and simply add more when you're ready. The Sonos Play:3 is an unassuming little box. 26cm wide and 16cm deep, it’s small enough to fit on a bedside cabinet without poking over the edge. If that foot print is still too large for your liking, this box is also designed to function just fine on its side, making it just 13cm wide. There are little rubber feet on one side as well as the bottom, to avoid scratches, while a built-in accelerometer lets the box know when it’s on its side, and to change the sound processing accordingly.Let’s take a closer look at each of these options to connect Sonos to TV wirelessly: 1. Connect the Sonos Speaker to the TV via Bluetooth Now, when you invite your friends over for a thrilling movie night, you can know confidently that you are in for an audio thrill ride as your speakers will work their magic. This is incredibly helpful when arranging the best audio output for your home. Anyone who has ever attempted to create their own home theater knows what it is like to have to arrange speakers.

Sonos as Computer Speakers - Gear Patrol How to Use Sonos as Computer Speakers - Gear Patrol

Use the capacitive touch controls on the product to play, pause, skip, replay, adjust the volume, and more. You can also link two Play:3s together to make a stereo pair, and now, thanks to an update, stream music directly from your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Last but far from least, the company has now added the Sonos Playbar. SoundKeep in mind that the speakers need to be high-quality if you are planning to stream any movies or TV shows on your TV. Finally, if you just plan to use the speakers to enhance the holiday tunes that you plan to blast throughout your home- perhaps creating a festive spirit at your next social gathering- you can use the Sonos Connect or Connect:Amp. The sound signature is definitely on the warm, bassy side, but you are given some minor control over it within the iPhone app. A Music Equilization submenu lets you tweak the bass, treble and balance, and turn the Loudness mode on and off. The two frequency sliders only have a subtle effect on the sound – Sonos doesn’t give you the opportunity to ruin the sound quality here, but the Loudness option makes quite an impact. Primarily, it increases bass output to help the Play:3 maintain a decent sense of scale at higher volumes in spite of its fairly small-sized drivers. It can make the box sound a little bass-heavy, but this can then be tamed a little with the bass slider. Sonos speakers connect to the main base (your controller) and are managed through the Sonos App (unless paired directly and controlled through another streaming device).
