Sonia Zucco arrives to explain that she's been targeted by Roadrunner and another super-villain named Tiger Shark as she refuses to let them launder money in her bank. Really quite an enjoyable ride through the fantastic scenery as we came face to face with the climax of the Black Mirror. Commissioner Gordon tells Dick that his son came back, and asks Dick to meet him to make sure he's fine. I was really what taken aback having a new Batman missed the whole storyline, but then again there are too many comics to keep up with the storyline.

I don't want to go into spoilers (Despite being older comic) but the last three issues left me glued to the page and heart thumping like crazy. What I've been thinking about Batman lately (assuming, as you should, that I am always thinking about Batman in some way or another) is that Batman might be over.

Dick manages to barely escape due to the toxin in the auction meeting and is found by Tim Drake in an alley. Batman and Red Robin take down the bird poachers responsible for the aviary, although the Dealer's hallucinogenics are still in Batman's system. Tiger Shark was able to get away with murdering her friend because Sonia tricked Batman into eliminating her other enemies first. Harvey Bullock alerts Commissioner Gordon that his son has come back when they suspect him of freeing every bird in the city's Aviary.

Helpless and trapped in the deadly Mirror House, Batman must fight for his life against one of Gotham City's oldest and most powerful evils. Each issue builds up to the ultimate collision and, just like with Dick, Jim Gordon needs to meet the reflection he sees in the glass and recognize that its potential for evil has gotten stronger and he may not have enough time to stop it. His issues are illustrated wondrously by Francesco Francavilla whose limited color palette of dark colors (hues of orange, red, blue and purple) make the stories a chilling visual adventure as it is able to echo the depths of horrors that Snyder's writing purposefully and, at most times, masterfully brings out with atrocious clarity. The younger James is popularly suspected of being a criminal, and Barbara "Still Oracle" Gordon suspected him of even being a serial killer, although there was never any proof.James runs outside to escape, but his father shoots him in the legs and then stops him from jumping off a bridge. has a successful meeting with Grayson, but afterwards it's revealed that he's still actively torturing people as a psychopath.

Commissioner Gordon uses the Wayne crime labs again when a dead killer whale is found in the middle of a large Gotham bank run by Tony Zucco's daughter Sonia Zucco.

Gotham City is the perfect foil for the glowing superhero archetype of Superman, with its run down, crime filled nature. Snyder also introduces several new characters including The Dealer, Roadrunner, Sonia Zucco and Tiger Shark. For Batman that's never a good thing, especially if you’re Dick Grayson, the original Robin, now stepping into the shoes of your mentor. Now I don't know if this was ever done before, but in Black Mirror Jim Gordon JR is a serial killer and a creepy bastard at that.
