Nature-Loving Robot: The robotic guardians of Laputa are Fantastic Nukes, but when left to their own devices, they care for small animals, guard innocent birds' nests, and tend to the nature overgrowing the floating city.

Laputa hovers in the sky and does not move, which is rather unusual for an island city. To find the island city, Sheetas is flying stone needed. After she has spoken the “magic formula”, the stone lights up and shows her Laputa's whereabouts with a ray of light. [5] Pazu, meanwhile, is looking for Sheeta, and he finally finds her amid the passageways; the two are separated by a wall. Desperate not to let Muska have it again, Sheeta passes her crystal through a hole in the wall and tells Pazu to throw it into the ocean. Muska arrives from Pazu's end and tries to shoot the boy, but misses; Pazu's flying goggles absorb the bullet and protect him from harm. Pazu uses his cannon to enlarge the hole so he can crawl through. Sheeta reaches the throne room, but Muska corners her. Realizing that she is trapped, she confronts him in that he shall possess neither the crystal nor Laputa, as he has no compassion and is undeserving of the kingdom's throne. Laputa apparently ruled a (seemly absolute) monarchy as there was a royal family whose descendants are Muska and Sheeta. While Muska's family has kept the knowledge of Laputa for 700 years, Sheeta's family has forgotten the place in question. They just passed on the flying stone and activation codes. The coat of arms of the royal family is depicted on the stone. [2] When Sheeta and Pazu reached the island, they only encountered a single robot who apparently took care of everything. [7] In addition, many animals still lived there. There were no more people living there. Apparently, the fall was of Laputa civilization caused by a man-made disaster, similar to Plato's story of what happened to Atlantis. What Measure Is a Mook?: The entire crew of the Goliath are wiped out in a series of catastrophes. Nobody seems to care. Probably not without reason, though. The Laputian robot's "eyes" are the muzzles of two of them: a slashing laser and a Destructo-Beam. It's worth noting that the lasers used by the robots follow a realistic theory about the capability of laser weapons: they don't have a maximum range and they travel near-instantly. This is most clearly demonstrated when Sheeta throws off the damaged Fortress robot's aim and the beam shoots off across the countryside for miles before it can cut the beam to avoid risking harm to Sheeta.

Opaque Nerd Glasses: Papa is the only one of his family to wear glasses and he is an engineer. His eyes can't be seen but this doesn't make him sinister. Robot Soldier: Laputa and it's remaining citizens are guarded by an army of fearsome flying robot soldiers. Muska threatens her life for the crystal, but Pazu appears and bargains for a brief truce. Sheeta teaches Pazu another ancient phrase, the spell of destruction, which they recite, causing Laputa to begin to collapse. The light of the spell blinds Muska, who falls to his death, while Sheeta and Pazu are protected by the giant tree's roots. While Laputa's bottom falls out, the rest of the castle – along with Dola's glider – is preserved by the giant tree, and the island begins to rise into space.
