In 1994, Fantastic Mr Fox was awarded the Read Aloud BILBY Award from the Children's Book Council of Australia. Mr Fox dug three tunnels, to each of the farm’s cellars and managed to steal all he could to feed all the animal families! It is also a tale of Mr Fox’s cunning and trickery to outsmart the three farmers and still feed his family and all their woodland friends.He was also the author of Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG and many more brilliant stories.

These greedy farmers can spare some but instead they hunt the fox and now he is trapped underground forever.

Whilst I didn’t think there was as much dark humour and wit as in some of Dahl’s other stories it is still a fun and entertaining read. But it was as a children’s author that he found greatest fame and satisfaction, saying “I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers…Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful. Its title was inspired by a highly inaccurate and sensationalized article about the crash that blinded him, which claimed he had been shot down instead of simply having to land because of low fuel. In 1970, before I was even born, Dahl wrote and published a story about a very cunning creature, you may even have seen one for yourself, the red fox.
