I thank you for your time in reading this - and I do hope that this review helps you make your purchase. Real nice design took me about 5 hours combined to build nothing too fiddly and once finished it looks real good.

Because this set was the early work of Lepin, you could pretty much throw the minifigures away as the quality wasn’t that good. It wouldn’t be a ship without someone to sail her; six LEGO mini-figures are included to help recreate your favorite scenes.

Connor’s only complaint was the eyes, which he thought were a bit too ‘zombie’ and I had to agree. Then things changed and toys got “safe”, fingers weren’t burned, cannons stopped firing and kids were sad. There are some very tiny pieces that are very easy to lose and some items you will need to identify against each other, but that is part of the fun.

The theme consists of nine sets covering all four movies and includes LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. The set develops fine motor movement, and spatial awareness in the building - and massively builds confidence in the achievement of having completed it. And although the Black Pearl has been sunk three times and failed to be destroyed, please note that this model does not float. Connor was impressed at the stage where we had to flip over the hull to put the 2×2 round boat bottoms on that the hull laid flat on the table.

Cons: the Black Pearl has easement for 6 Cannons - yet the set comes with 2 (Fully functioning cannons- watch your eyes!It's a good choice as a gift for a teen, as reccomended by LEGO rating, but for an AFOL it's quite easy to build and unfortunately you'll finish with it too fast. Box shows some signs of wear and has been opened and has some creases and a small hole, but intact and will seal up again.
