First he has to get past Dr Farquhar, the quixotic head of Fairfields – the asylum where Easterman is kept. She explains that Farquhar is in fact Easterman, who killed most of the staff during a "psychiatric drama" session. A highly fictionalized account of the London production of this play is the backdrop to Horowitz’s novel, The Twist of a Knife (2022). If you are considering staging this play you need to bear in mind that performers, directors and audiance will either love it or hate it - nothing in between. A truly gripping thriller [that] keeps you guessing and marveling from its deceptively normal opening to its fearful climax.

Arriving at a hospital for the criminally insane, Styler prepares to speak to murderer Easterman, but ends up clashing with Dr Farquhar about how the interview will take place. Hollywood and Britpic vet Russell, whose output includes the iconic “Lair of the White Worm,” is hardly a stranger to Gothic material. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. However, there is something odd about Dr Farquhar who one minute refuses to allow such an interview and attempts to send the author away and then changes his mind and starts to probe the author with his own strange questions. In fact I wrote my first book when I was ten, stuck in a miserable, north London boarding school where reading and telling stories were my only lifeline. She cannot undo the strait jacket straps, and as she bends down to get the scalpel from Easterman, he awakens and grabs her, then stabs her behind a curtain. I’m watching Anthony Horowitz dark psychological thriller play “Mindgame” that has come to the West End at the Ambassador theatre for three weeks only, after a successful UK tour.

Love how Horowitz makes himself a character in his own books and so can critique and recontextualize certain past, less-than-inspired work. He goes on to say , "Richard Baron's production, wittily designed by Ken Harrison, combines efficient slasher thrills 'n' chills with outbreaks of pitch-black humour. Theatrical thrillers are damn hard to get right - that's why there are so few really top notch ones (Sleuth, Deathtrap, The Mousetrap). Although anyone who has read their Christie might anticipate some of the twists, it is still a taut and exciting piece; unfortunately, the design elements probably will keep it from being performed as often as its excellence warrants.

This began with two Sherlock Holmes continuation novels, The House of Silk and Moriarty, followed by my entry into the world of James Bond with Trigger Mortis. She and Farquhar, who is now Carol, completely change, and Styler is told he is Easterman and Styler was just his assumed name. I hope, if you read it, you'll enjoy all the clues, the red herrings, the bizarre range of suspects and the occasionally violent twists. Speaking in measured tones and smiling out of both sides of his mouth, Carradine exudes both authority and menace as he tries to explain his unconventional methods to a nervous visitor.
