I think you were a tad harsh based on the vanilla taste, I give this an 83, its very smooth and for me, the vanilla taste is awesome.

Happily I have now remedied that unfortunate circumstance with this new updated review based upon the most current bottling.

The brand’s trademark taste is achieved through a unique recipe blend - with spices innate to the Caribbean Islands - for the final part of the process. I tried mixing the rum with cola, but I ended up with what tasted kind of like Vanilla Coke, which has always been my least favourite of the flavoured colas. I think of this rum as a solid mid-ranger – something that can, in a pinch, be had on its own and not be mixed with anything; the rather heavy body and spices lend to that. This distiller company specializing in the production of rum was inspired by Captain Morgan, a legal pirate defending the interests of England, which has to be the symbol of the company since its inception. Each sip reveals a harmonious blend of spices, vanilla, and hints of oak, leaving a lasting impression on your palate.

In 1944, though, the company decided to launch a new line of Caribbean spiced rum inspired by the life of famous pirate Henry Morgan, and formed the Captain Morgan Rum Company as a holding company for the new venture. He married his cousin in 1666, the daughter of the deputy governor of Jamaica, and was soon elevated to the rank of admiral and tasked with leading a group of privateers. The downside of this is that beyond the candy of these spices, it takes a real expert to taste anything else: try as I might, I could not discern more than butterscotch, vanilla and caramel and some very faint traces of what may have been orange. Captain Morgan is a brand of liqueur with rum taste made by the British Alcohol conglomerate Diageo. Above the label we have two swords crossing embossed on the glass referencing the link between Captain Morgan the Privateer and the Captain Morgan Rum, and on the left side of the label we have a nice portrait of the Iconic Privateer.

In 1668, he led those forces in a successful assault on the town of Porto Bello, reportedly using captured clergy as human shields for his assault on one of the fortifications. e. spring/summer, Christmas, New Year) there might be some delays in packing and/or suppliers deliveries to our side. The distilled spirit is placed into oak barrels for an undisclosed period of time (reportedly up to a year). But you’re also correct that the vanilla outstays its welcome: I’d rather have a young, piquant, dead-heavy molasses based “straight” rum like Young’s Old Sam or Coruba to drown my mixin’s in, than to attempt it on this one.

Tax incentives favouring Puerto Rico caused them to transfer manufacturing to a factory outside San Juan (close to where the Bacardi family was setting up a factory at the same time); in 2001 they sold the rights and brand to Diageo, a British concern which by 2010 was the largest spirits company in the world. Morgan is best known because of a memoir published by former French shipmate Alexandre Exquemelin, which recounts Morgan’s exploits as a privateer. From the top of his list, his favourites like Kraken, captain Morgan Black and gold spiced, Old J, sailor Jerry, Pampero anniversario, vodoo spiced rum.

Jumping forward a few centuries, the Seagram company started as a Canadian distillery in 1857 and grew to become one of the biggest spirits companies in Canada. Captain Morgan starts this same way, and once the initial slurry is ready for distillation it is fed into a continuous distillation still (or column still) to produce the raw rum. Its rich and smooth flavor profile is a result of the finest ingredients and a meticulous aging process.
