Water, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Coco-Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Abies Siberica (Siberian Fir) Needle Oil, Picea Glauca (Spruce) Leaf Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Hydroxide Oven and Stove: I make a natural scouring powder for use in oven and stove cleaning or use Bon Ami. Should I try out every “more natural” store-bought dish soap until I find one that gets the job done? What is Sal Suds used for? Sal Suds is very versatile can be used to wash and clean a variety of hard and soft surfaces. Here are some ideas for how to use Sal Suds:Hydrophilic literally means “water ( hydro) loving ( philic).” This end of the surfactant molecule grabs hold of water. On the other side, hydrophobic means “water ( hydro) fearing ( phobic).” A little exaggerated perhaps, but this end grabs the oil. Dishes (Handwashing): ½ – 1 ½ tsp. (2.5 mL to 7.5 mL) Sal Suds in a large sink of water. Or 1 drop Sal Suds for one pot, more if needed. Stainless Steel Appliances & Sink: Spray appliance with All-Purpose Spray. Wipe with a soft damp cloth in the direction of the grain. Spray sink and sprinkle with baking soda from a shaker. Scrub then rinse.

Phosphates help balance the detergents' pH and chelate minerals found in hard water like lime and magnesium. They make laundry detergents more effective, BUT they are very harmful to humans and wildlife. Exposure to phosphates in humans is linked to cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and even death! The Sal Suds carpet cleaner recipe is intended for a pressure washer or carpet cleaning machine. You can also fill the solution into a small spray bottle to have at hand for spot cleaning. Don’t be tempted to add more, 1 drop is enough, more will only leave a residue. Materials Castile soap is primarily designed for the body. The blend of oils (coconut, olive, palm, jojoba, and hemp seed) are designed to be the most nourishing to our skin. But wait, there’s more. Because it is such a beautifully simple soap, it also cleans many other things amazingly well, whether it’s your dog, your sinks, or your floors. You can find details of all these uses on this Castile Soap Dilutions Cheat Sheet. teaspoon (2.5 mL) Sal Suds in a quart (1 L) of water. Spray and squeegee. Follow with a spray of pure club soda or half vinegar/half water and squeegee.Glass and Windows:I dilute 5 drops of Sal Sudsconcentrate in a glass spray bottle with filtered water and wipe with microfiber. (Homemade option: This is one area where vinegar is effective and can be used to make asimple cleaner for glass with this recipe).

Spray a wet (not dripping) cloth lightly with All-Purpose Spray. Gently rub cloth on the spot. Rinse area with a second wet cloth. Blot with a dry cloth to extract moisture. For large areas, use a carpet cleaner (above). Always spot test first. Window wash (aka Sal Suds Lite): As I’ve explained before, I think the truth is somewhere in the middle with borax being generally safe to use in cleaning but not in personal care products as much of the research on the actual dangers of borax is actually on boric acid (not the same thing chemically). Toilets:For best results, empty toilet. Spray bowl thoroughly with All-Purpose Spray, or sprinkle 2-3 drops of Sal Suds directly on toilet brush. Sprinkle baking soda on a brush, scrub bowl. Let sit 10 minutes. Turn water on. Flush.

Foaming Hand Soap: Liquid castile soap diluted in water makes a great foaming hand soap that costs pennies per bottle. Here’s how I make it. Optical Brighteners/ UV Brighteners– eye, skin and lung irritant and extremely toxic to aquatic life The other part of the story about why I don’t exclusively use DIY cleaners anymore is because of time. I have (almost) six kids and a dog, and a house, homeschooling, and a blog, and even a couple of friends. I wouldn’t trade any of those things for the world, but to keep all of them happy and healthy requires time.

Sal Suds has a texture similar to thin liquid soap or shower gel. Sal Suds vs castile soap – Is Sal Suds castile soap? Errr, hold on! Why are you recommending a product that has sodium lauryl sulfate as an ingredient? Isn’t SLS dangerous? And there are excellent detergents, such as our Sal Suds, which is super duper tough on grease and completely clean rinsing, yet mild, readily biodegradable. Pressure Washer/Carpet Cleaner: In cleaning solution chamber, fill with water and add 1 drop of Sal Suds. Add 1c. (240 mL) vinegar to rinse water (optional). Use All-Purpose Spray on carpet spots (use sparingly). Cars: ½ Tbsp. (7.5 mL) Sal Suds in 3 gallons (12 L) of water for exterior. Use All-Purpose Spray on interior surfaces and leather seats. Wipe with damp cloth. In cleaning solution chamber, fill with water and add 1 drop of Sal Suds. Add 1 cup (240 mL) vinegar to rinse water (optional). Use All-Purpose Spray on carpet spots (use sparingly). The same preservative used to preserve dead bodies is found in SO many cleaning, laundry, bath, body and beauty products. It's everywhere because it's cheap to make and effective. However, it is quite toxic for us. Exposures to it even in small amounts can lead to cancer, yes, cancer, and that's according to the CDC. The EPA has labeled it a Class B1 probable carcinogen and can cause acute toxicity when exposed to the skin. Other Toxins
