I remained on the investigation for the next three weeks and was given the job of creating a sequence-of-events chart which, although basic, started to plot the movements of those involved as I sifted through the various witness statements and records of interviews. A traditional coaching inn originally built at the end of the 18th Century, serving great food, great drinks (they import our own wines), a friendly bar, real ales, real fires and where acomfy stay is ensured. In an ideal location for touring the amazing roads of Southern Snowdonia. They are happy to suggest routes and host groups. From the millions of riders, the largest demographic (19%) live in the South East, followed by Scotland (16%) and the South West (15%). While the official data would suggest these are the best spots for bikers, we’ve done our own analysis to find Britain’s best locations for riding on your two wheels. Situated close the famous Falls of Shinand across the water from Carbisdale Castle, close to the seaside villages of Brora and Golspie, Hermit's Castle at Achmelvich, The Castle of Mey and an hour (ish) to Inverness and Ullapool, so a fantastic base to stay to explore all that Sutherland has to offer. Large parking area. We begin riding parallel along the M6 through Lancaster and onto Poulton-le-Fylde before finally re-joining the coastline to two of my favourite seaside towns.

Once again, Greater London found itself in last place – contending with the huge and constantly growing population. Only 31 new riders per 100,000 people could be found in London in 2021. As much as the CrossTourer suits the way I ride – and is much better for touring with my girlfriend than the SX – when the PCP is up on the Honda, I’ll probably swap it for something else. Or who knows? Maybe I’ll keep it and just add to the fleet. There’s a Speed-Triple shaped space in the garage that could be filled… When the blood-letting outside the Locarno Club had subsided, cabbie Douglas Brunt lay dead and two others were seriously injured.Having done just enough research to know there wasn’t anything of much significance riding along the coast north from Dublin, we decide to make time and cover the first 70 miles on the M1 motorway. Following the road through Belfast and joining the A8 we reach the coastal road by Drains Bay, just past Larne. From here heading north to Ballycastle we ride alongside the waterline with some spectacular cliffside roads and sea views bringing the first great pleasure in riding Ireland. We set off mid-morning for Bangor. The A55 opens up in front of us and provides spectacular views of the coastline as we pass alongside Colwyn Bay and through Llandudno junction. We enter Bangor via the A5, undoubtedly the best way to see the small studious city and take a whistle stop tour featuring the pier and university. People kept asking him if he was a biker because he looked like one, so by his late twenties he got round to taking his test and bought a Kawasaki GT550 – a slow old lump but utterly reliable, which he rode for 45,000 miles.

Their journey begins on Bute Island and travels through Dumfries & Galloway, Lancashire, Merseyside & the Isle of Man, North Wales, The Severn Estuary and Somerset, ending in Devon. Brittanylocation, offering a choice of three holiday houses, aimed at and run by Bikers. Within 20 acres of land, in a valley with woods, stream and small lake. A traditional stone house sleeps six, the wooden house sleep five and the wood cabin is perfect for two, all come fully equipped, with outdoor areas, bbq and linen, gas and electricity are included. Oxford is the second most populous motorcycle city, with 127,773 riders making up 2.54% of the nation’s biking population. With easy entry to the Cotswolds, this historic city offers easy access to beautiful countryside. Typical of all Southern National Parks and AONB, the riding is immensely enjoyable and made even better by the stunning scenery. With the day’s ride starting to wear on us, we discuss the option of riding through the night to avoid the final pitch. However, after a number of road closures and diversions heading towards Exeter and stopping for fuel while both hungry and frustrated, we realise that I had already paid for that evening’s pitch at South Farm. Plus, stopping for the night would make the end of our tour much more enjoyable.
