Description

The ASHRAE/USGBC standard sets the normal expectation for indoor CO2 levels at 400-600ppm, slightly above the normal levels in outdoor air (400ppm). The Aranet4 Home is just 70mm square and only 24mm deep yet it has a beautifully clear large display. This is not a cheap gimmick it utilizes a precision NDIR sensor using infrared measurement technology that monitors the concentration of CO2 which you can’t see or smell but the symptoms of inhaling too much CO2 include drowsiness, headaches and poor concentration.

At the end of the day, whether you’re seeing 1400ppm or 1500ppm, both indicate that better ventilation is needed. While the readings were a bit conservative, the CO2 monitor features a recalibration feature that allows users to manually recalibrate the sensor when needed. Looking around the device, you’ll find only a few intake vents, a USB-C charging port, a single button, and a small screen.

If you’re considering using this device indoors, it’s worth remembering that unless you don’t mind regularly charging it, it’s best suited to be mounted on a wall instead of sitting on a desk or table. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. From these three tests, and just from using the monitor daily for a couple of weeks, I can conclude that it is accurate when appropriately calibrated. On the other hand, the SmartAir CO2 Monitor also features on-demand manual calibrations, which can be started through the app.A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. Including direct access to professional technical support, each Aranet4 Pro Sensor is portable, simple to install and easy to link to the Aranet Pro base station. Btw, is the device accesible via app remotely (let’s say via cellular data), if the device is at home/office and connected to WiFi?

This is a great starting point, as the Swiss company Sensirion is known for making some of the best carbon dioxide sensors on the market. This includes sections covering VOCs (volatile organic compounds), common pollutant sources, and indoor air quality monitors. While I appreciate the large screen on the SmartAir CO2 Monitor, I’ve found the E-ink screens on other carbon dioxide monitors to be better for readability and visibility in bright environments. This is competitive with the Qingping carbon dioxide monitors and the Vitalight but also falls far short of the Aranet4. If you have multiple monitors from Qingping or SmartAir, you can see the data from each displayed here. On the flip side, the SmartAir CO2 Monitor relies on an internal battery with a 6-30 day battery life (depending on your CO2 measurement and uploading intervals).
