Description

Strike of the Giants' main advantage is not its sheer power, but the flexibility with its sub-options. Any character who takes this feat can choose one strike option, and use it once per turn at no cost of actions or bonus actions. Among those options, stone strike and cloud strike are standouts, the former pushing a monster 10 feet away and the latter turning this feat's user invisible. They can also expand your pool of spells known, which can be helpful for classes like the Bard and the Sorcerer, who get a strictly limited number of spells known. You might weigh that benefit against spellcasting feats like Fey Touched, but remember that Runeshaper is expected to be in line with Skilled or Tough, which aren’t stunning powerful feats. Keenness of the Stone Giant is also a fairly weak option among the ten feats in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants since its effects have fairly niche use. Like all the giant-related branch feats, it grants +1 to either STR, CON, or WIS, so it's a good feat for martial classes like fighter, barbarian, and perhaps paladin, too. It also grants darkvision.

DnD Glory of the Giants review – strong but slim | Wargamer

This helmet's second effect is to cast a powerful elemental bolt at an enemy for a bonus action per turn. Finally, the Helm of Perfect Potential lets the wearer spend charges to cast spells like Elemental Weapon and Wall of Fire. Normally, mind flayers make more of their kind by implanting a tadpole into a humanoid and transforming it, but regular giants are too large for that process. So, mind flayers turned to ettins, relatively small two-headed giants, and let their tadpoles feast on the ettin's two brains. This results in the ettin ceremorph. Zephyr Armor is a set of light armor that can appear in three varieties: padded, leather, and studded leather. Most likely, classes like bard, rogue, and ranger will wear this armor, especially at lower levels. Zephyr Armor provides better bonuses than AC, though, since its true protective power involves sheer evasion. Giants have a strong Norse theme in Dungeons & Dragons, including their use of magical runes. Some cool monsters in Glory of the Giants use runes, such as the death giant shrouded one, and the Rune Shaper feat lets player characters get a piece of the runic action, too. Because the power of their runes allows frost giant ice shapers to easily ascend to leadership roles in their enclaves, there’s a great opportunity to use one as the larger threat among an already challenging group of giants.from you in a straight, horizontal line. But that’s not what they wrote. “pushed 10 feet directly away from you” was right there.• Storm Strike: It’s on a Constitution The only issue I see with most of this information is giants will have to be a huge part of your campaign for you to start worrying about how many giants live together in a settlement versus a steading. A skilled dungeon master could build an entire giant-themed campaign with these monsters and other resources in mind, in the same vein as Storm King's Thunder. Whether the DM modifies an existing campaign or homebrews a new one where giants shine in the spotlight, Glory of the Giants has the right monsters for the job. These monsters have it all, from intriguing lore and personalities to deadly and exciting gameplay stats and fantastic illustrations to bring them to life. Ember of the Fire Giant, aside from its +1 to STR/CON/WIS, offers a lot for any martial player character who takes it. Ember of the Fire Giant grants resistance to fire damage, which works well against a wide variety of powerful spells and abilities from monsters. However, the Searing Ignition ability is the true selling point of Ember of the Fire Giant.

It would have been nice to group the adventure hooks in the Enclaves chapter and encounter tables with some semblance of CR suggestions, so you can better prepare adventures for your party. Since it's been delayed, I imagine they're just going to release once ready. They can't release earlier (obviously) and later screws the schedule, so they'll just release ASAP - they're no longer timing it with relation to Phandelver. What’s scarier than a frost giant? How about a vengeful undead frost giant? Frostmourns are what might happen when you don’t solve your frost giant infestation in an ethical way. A frost giant killed through some dishonorable means can rise up again as a frostmourn. That means a cunning party who tries to avoid a dangerous combat by killing a giant in their sleep might find themselves being stalked by a mummified giant’s corpse looking for that sweet, sweet vengeance.Because the damage is “extra damage”, it is multiplied on a critical hit. It can be very tempting to reserve Strike of the Giants for crits, but usually it’s more impactful to use it for the rider effect.
