If you supplied the material and drew a reasonably neat, properly illustrated, isometric blueprint, you could cut down the cost substantially. Still, the shop rate would include cutting tools, setup and breakdown times (and many will add tool, coolant, & machine wear predictions). I went to the extreme. To avoid the unrealistic always-return-to-the-same-neutral-position of spring/bungee cord loaded yokes, I disconnected the pitch bungee altogether. The motor is driving the rotating screw which moves the point of bungee attachment - simple and clever.

For something like that you’re probably going to go searching for a machine shop that will do small one-off jobs. Could get pricey unless you know someone who can do you a favour.This LED does NOT illuminate at all. I kind of understand, since I am NOT in the Heading HOLD mode, but in the Heading Select mode. So how could I turn this LED ON to show that I am in the HEADING SELECT MODE?

They would probably be the least expensive shop to hire for the job. Just don’t pressure them with a deadline, (give them a lot of time to do the job in). That way, they can do it between the normal machine setups that usually work with. Over on the MS Forums, about every 4th post is about somebody trying to get the honeycomb to work the way it should. At their price, I doubt that it is the most used hardware, but sure does raise a lot of issues. I want a yoke, but I am afraid of the price vs. performance issues. After a bit of wiggling, you should now have the pitch bungee free! This is what you’ll replace with a softer bungee. Take the bungee to the hardware store and try out some bungees that feel softer than the original. A little goes a long way here so don’t get something too weak. On the other hand, try finding one in its price range that's as good. I'm waiting on the Alpha upgrade to release from Honeycomb, then I'll get a set from them. Rotate the roll bungee holder to one side and you’ll see a screw. Using a 4mm ball end hex wrench, you can just get in there and undo that screw. There’s another one on the other side. This will undo the clamp on the bottom that holds the pitch bungee in place.

Agreed. Even high quality pots get noisy over time. That's what finally killed my old Saitek X45, which I still miss. The throttle axis pot got so noisy that I could only control 0-20%, and then 80-100% throttle. Anything in between was fairly unpredictable as to what input it would send, and even the "good" areas were twitchy. Made landings kinda challenging, but not in a good way. 😉
