Description

Sometimes I’ll be in my own space, my own company, and that’s when I’m really content. It’s all love, though. There’s nothing against anyone else; that’s just how I am. I like doing my own thing and making my art. My initial complaints were primarily directed at compression, mostly found in Simz’s vocals. This is no longer a concern. Sometimes I Might Be Introvert was produced by Inflo across LA and London, and features contributions from Cleo Sol and Obongjayar. They don’t always succeed. Even so, the occasionally overwhelming effect of all that mental offloading seems a fair price to pay in exchange for an artist determined to cram their character into every corner of their work. Sometimes I Might Be Introvert may or may not provide a commercial boost for its maker, but this rich, fascinating album cements Little Simz’s significance regardless.

Little Simz – Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (2021, Red

Without wasting any time at all, the album opens with the heart stopping clarion call of “Introvert”, a visceral essay about lives lived in the cross-hairs of society, fuelled by fear, exhaustion, frustration, but also a kind of white hot political awakening. It’s a full-bore, high-stakes, facing up to death riposte, as urgent as it is compelling, complete with a stunning video by Salomon Lightelm which is by turns majestic and terrifying, with a chopped up, collaged structure perfectly mirroring the landscape it maps; a place of beauty and danger, of violence and dogged resistance. The centre, Simz is keen to remind us, will not hold (“man it’s like they can’t sleep until our spirit is crushed”) – and here she is driven to document every unsparing detail. I know that I’m quiet, innit? I’m just very to myself and I didn’t know how to really navigate that, especially coming in this industry where you’re expected to have this extroverted persona all the time.Little Simz – Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. It’s a nice rich sounding pressing and it’s an absolute joy to listen to. If I had to describe it one word, it'd be CLASSY! The grandiose orchestral production and Simbi's charismatic delivery makes the hour long journey an epic and enthusiastic one. I'm enthralled every moment, even during the cheesy interludes that are taken straight out of a British princess fairytale.

Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (Clear Vinyl) – Little Simz

The themes of this album are wide spanning, but one of my favorites, is just the overwhelming positivity across the record. Even when faced with adversity, Simz is comfortable enough in her craft and her own abilities that, she empowers herself and the listener, with grand statements of triumph and reassurances from someone who has learned the hard way. This is a pretty rare and unique sentiment coming from an A list artist... Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term. The way that Simz and Inflo (Producer) Little Simz really gave us her masterpiece here. SIMBI is cinematic, grandiose, and wide scoping... Artist: Little Simz. 1-1 Introvert. Genre: Rap/Hip Hop. 1-15 Point and Kill (Feat. Obongjayar). Colour: Milky clear vinyl. Edition: 12" Album (Clear vinyl). Format: Vinyl.Little Simz really gave us her masterpiece here. SIMBI is cinematic, grandiose, and wide scoping... Some light and fleeting surface noise that thankfully gets buried behind the music. It's not persistent and comes in 10 second intervals. Not a deterrent as this is overall a brilliant sounding LP. Nice soundstage, with vocals crisp and dead centered. Wonderful album that I am happy to own on vinyl. The production is a breath of fresh air in a trap-dominated soundscape. The album features a blend of epic orchestral elements with strings and horns as well old school beats taken from neo-soul and jazz rap among many other genres. It sounds full and well-rounded, nothing is missing! Even when she does dabble in contemporary sounds on "Rollin Stone," it's excellent! The way that Simz and Inflo (Producer) communicate on this record is unbelievable. I cant remember the last time I heard a musical relationship like this where the instrumental is MADE for the vocalist and visa versa. I mean, if you didn't believe that Little Simz was one of the most talented MCs of the last few years this will certainly make you re-think I mean, if you didn't believe that Little Simz was one of the most talented MCs of the last few years this will certainly make you re-think your assertion. An absolutely bold, and beautiful, a record that feels like human revolt being displayed intimately and colorfully. Highly recommend listening to this album. A few hours before the album’s release, Simbi released the fifth and final single “Point and Kill.” Once the record was out, she wrote: It was straight boot camp. We got things done pronto, especially with the pace that me and Flo move at. We’re quite impulsive: When we’re ready to go, it’s time to go. Over the course of her lush, expansive, defiantly sprawling new album, “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert”, released on Age 101, the Ivor Novello award-winning, Mercury nominated Little Simz delivers an undeniable modern classic, effortlessly condensing any number of disparate styles and genres into music which thrillingly broaches the gap between urgent modern treatise and hip hop.Rapper Little Simz is releasing a new album, called Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, via her own Age 101 label this September. But there’s still that nagging doubt. On “Standing Ovation,” she sits at home, surrounded by her spoils, asking “What is it I’m meant to be?” Twelve years ago, Simz was asking a similar question in a different way. She was standing outside London’s Roundhouse theatre in a throng of teenage boys, trading verses over rough, beatboxed grime instrumentals. “They say they wanna be a superstar, but are they gonna work hard to achieve that?” she rapped into the circle of adolescents. More than a decade on, her work is there to see. Much of it has been concerned with figuring out who Little Simz is and where she stands; Sometimes I Might Be Introvert still tugs at that thread. This is the sound of Simz reconciling with Simbi. And it sounds great. Cue the ovation. Came with a signed art card available exclusively through recordstore.co.uk. The second single, “Woman,” was released on May 6, 2021. It was followed by the third single “Rolling Stone” on June 14, 2021, and the fourth single “I Love You, I Hate You” on July 8. I deleted my previous comment criticising this pressing. I have since made adjustments to my system and realise my initial experience wasn’t quite accurate. Yes: in 2022, Little Simz won both the Mercury Prize and the Libera Award for Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.
