Ich habe das Sigma 18-300 aus der Contemporary-Serie erworben, um es als „Immer-drauf-Objektiv“ an meiner Canon EOS 1300D zu nutzen. Parallel hatte ich zum Vergleichen das Sigma 18-250 [ [[ASIN:B008B48AAE Sigma 18-250 mm F3,5-6,3 DC Macro OS HSM Objektiv (62 mm Filtergewinde, für Canon Objektivbajonett)]] ]erworben. In alcuni scatti l'aberrazione cromatica è decisamente evidente, Lightroom aiuta ma non elimina totalmente l'effetto. Per i ritratti meglio sfruttarlo dai 200mm in su, sotto le immagini risultano un po' piatte, meglio portarsi dietro un 50mm o un 85mm.

The Contemporary lens is stiff, heavy, and versatile. The optical stabilization makes a noted difference, and with care, distance shots can be made decent without a tripod. It is more crisp when zoomed in far than the other. It does require silly-high iso settings to adjust for the slower aperture. This becomes the compromise - slightly more noise vs clarity of the subject. I'm seeing that people I'm send these pictures to notice focus and clarity more than they notice noise, so the compromise seems to favor this lens. The slower aperture precludes it from being my preferred lens for general walk-around or any other time I'm not anticipating the need for the strong zoom. For those times, Sigma's other lens in the Contemporary line has much more open glass and takes more vibrant pictures. Now on to the good stuff! This lens is really, really sharp for a super zoom and is also competitive with most of the standard zooms at similar focal lengths I have tried. This lens doesn't feel like too much of a compromise in everyday use and I don't often find myself saying "I wish I had X lens" instead of this on the camera. At 300 mm, it's completely at home with centralized subjects and I could not be happier with the performance (and especially at the price). On the wide end, the performance is no less impressive to me (with the exception of "abrupt" vignetting in the corners that doesn't really go away even at f/10 and beyond). In between, the performance is more than pretty good across the board. This lens has really good control over chromatic aberration and is much better behaved in this respect to any other super zoom I've auditioned. At it's worst (18 mm and above f/5.6), red/green fringing is incredibly minor and hardly noticeable. Mounted on a K-5, I have found the focusing to be pretty fast and surprisingly accurate even in artificial and/or poor natural light and definitely better than I would have believed. It's a little faster on the K-30, but only in some situations. The build quality of the Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM Contemporary lens is pretty well built. It isn’t like the Sports optics and only a smidge below the Art lineup in terms of build quality. For the typical APS-C DSLR user, you’ll have nothing to complain about with the build of this lens except that the lens cap should have been better designed. If the lens hood is on, it can be tough to take the lens cap off.
