Atlas Grimm is a grump but the best kind. Honestly all the tension and banter between Primrose and Lucifer and Primrose and Atlas is just off the charts and absolutely hilarious. Atlas despises anyone else being in charge of situations, as Primrose is a hard-headed and stubborn protagonist they predictably butt heads and it is so much fun to see them battling each other for control. I really loved seeing how Primrose brings out a kinder and more compassionate side to this rich, egotistical god, who sees other deities and humans as less than they are. He's a character that sneaks up on you, especially as you see his softer side, he's an absolute warrior and just an all round gorgeously grumpy ice god. Long, Carolyn Morrow (October 2002). "Perceptions of New Orleans Voodoo: Sin, Fraud, Entertainment, and Religion". Nova Religio: The Journal of Alternative and Emergent Religions. 6 (1): 86–101. doi: 10.1525/nr.2002.6.1.86. On top of that, Winterfield also shares ritualistic practices for increasing your own power so that you can increase the potency of your magic and regain the upper hand in your life. The Devil Rides Out (1934) – a novel by Dennis Wheatley – made into a famous film by Hammer Studios in 1968. They must learn to trust each other to work together, which isn’t easy since the High Court is built on deceit and lies. This hunt begins an exciting adventure with supernatural creatures, assassins and more.

Again, Feehan's storytelling seduced me. She does tend to use the same phrases a lot. Another Goodreads friend aptly coined them 'Feehanisms.' She is so right. Despite that, I can't get enough of her writing. The Carpathians take the vampire story in a different direction that utterly compelling and unforgettable. I was so glad to read Gregori's story after meeting him in Dark Desire. The good news is I get introduced to even more yummy, intense men in these books. Obviously I'm a fan of romance, but I'm also a big horror novel fan and know Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural canon to a frankly disturbing extent. So, this appeals to me on several levels. Gregori The Dark One is a legend, the most powerful healer and the most ruthless warrior.Gregori was one of the ancients and a true wild Carpathian male with a code of honor and a iron will stronger than a mountain. He had been living a isolated life for centuries holding out for the hope of finding his lifemate and he had been so dead inside that nothing could bring an ounce of feeling in him.In the eyes of others a heartless demon and a monster and sentenced to a lonely existence if it weren`t for Savannah. This man brought tears to my eyes and his shattering pain was so raw that my heart broke so many times.Like Savannah i also thought "Who could possibly live year after year in such an empty void and survive with his soul intact?".His love for Savannah was larger than life and the world and while he always knew they belonged together he always feared for her safety and that someone would take her away from him.His magnificent and passionate way of loving Savannah brought tears to my eyes,i am so happy he finally got his happy ending. I love you, Gregori," she whispered softly against his throat. "I really love you. The real you. Do you understand?"-Savannah This book is so beautiful and gorgeously formatted! You can tell the author put a lot of time and effort into creating a beautiful piece of art with this book!Gregori is very old and has some old ideas. He is stubborn and overbearing. But he is also very sympathetic. He loves Savannah so completely. And their love scenes are very, very hot. The daughter of the Capathian prince happens to be his life mate (they only have one) but he is not allowed to "marry" her until she's 18. However, she refuses him and asks for time. She wants to go out on her own and have a life and Gregori scares her, even though she feels the pull of their life mate chemistry. I recommend Dark Magic to fans of paranormal suspense and conspiracies. This was an entertaining, suspenseful read and I enjoyed putting the pieces together. James Swain has published over fourteen mystery novels in countries all over the world and I look forward to reading more of his work. Savannah did realize pretty earlier in the story that she was wrong, she was just scared and once she was in with Gregori - she was IN for the long-haul (unlike her mother her is probably still hemming and hawing. Hello. I am Christina and I'm a witch. I spend time contemplating the moon, and practising candle magic, mainly for healing. For this, I write what I am hoping for on a candle splashed with various scented oils and pass my wishes through the candle as it burns. All my friends know I'm a witch, but I don't say it to everyone and I don't walk dressed like a witch through the streets - it would be easy to be teased. I'm also a normal person.

This book had the perfect about of "I don't want this, wait maybe I do want this, but I'm going to fight just because" in it. Gregori is one of the oldest and the deadliest of Carpathian men. As with all the men of his kind, he lost the ability to feel emotions and see in color when he turned 200. He's nearly a thousand now. And he is dangerously close to losing his honor and becoming the evil vampire he hunts. All vampires were Carpathians to begin with: they all drink blood; can use telepathy; shapeshift; and must avoid the sun. But Carpathian men who give up hope of salvation, of finding their lifemate, embrace evil and become the beast that is the vampire. The Grand Grimoire is said to be one of the most powerful and also one of the evilest books ever written. Also known as The Red Dragon, many speculate as to who actually authored such a dark book. Whoever wrote it must have had extensive knowledge on the work of King Solomon; many grimoires appear to have spells or rituals used by the King himself. This book is distinctively different, in that many rumors surround it. Supposedly, the Vatican is the only place to have the original copy.

Early on it was Savannah that disappointed me. She’s knows the score. Knows he’s close to going rogue and doesn’t seem to care. He gave her an extra 5 years at great personal cost to himself.

I tried, I really did. This is book 4 in a long series. Read book 1, enjoyed it. Read book 2, thought it was ok. Skipped book 3 because I didn't care about the main character...what I was really interested in was Gregori, the hero of this story. This is Gregori's story. One of the ancients, the second-oldest Carpathian alive*, he is revered and feared among his own kind for the ruthless hunter that he is. No Carpathian is more powerful or more knowledgable. If he turns, nothing will be able to stop him. overall not a bad book by any means! actually quite a good book, and a good start to a series i think i will enjoy! 🌷🌷 I didn't really connect with either of the love interests. We don't get to spend a ton of time with them with Primrose, and so there wasn't a strong enough connection established for me as a reader. Honestly, I enjoyed the scenes when Prim was on her own more than I did when either of the dudes came around. There were just enough twists and turns to keep me engaged and that ending was 🤯. I need answers and I am not okay 🤣. I need book two asap! ❤️‍🔥I liked Savannah. She was independent, intelligent, but also loving. She fought the lifemate bond initially, but then she came to realize that she was just as compelled to love Gregori, and she helped him get over his guilt about 'manipulating their connection' while she was in the womb. I really liked the communication Gregori had with Savannah when he saved her and her mother Raven's life. It made me want to read their book. I nearly threw the book across the room in disgust. It’s safe to say I wasn’t a happy bunny. But this was Gregori’s book. And I’d suffered through 3 long seemingly never ending books to get here. Books full of long flowing velvet hair, velvet skin, tiny waists, shapely breasts etc etc etc so I wasn’t going to quit now. Pegg, Carole (2001). Mongolian Music, Dance, & Oral Narrative: Performing Diverse Identities. University of Washington Press. ISBN 978-0295981123.

I don't recall there being many trees along the boardwalk, and I guaranty that there aren't any fraking snakes sleeping in them. The setting is interesting- a society of mediums and magicians conduct seances to regularly and anonymously tip off the police about crimes and catastrophes about to happen. The main character Peter is a professional magician of great renown, a future Houdini in the making; he's also an orphan who inherited some strange powers from his murdered parents with a strange past. Gregori was amazing. I loved how he started to let go of his caveman tendencies because he just wanted her to be happy. Savannah was a cute, funny heroine. And she definitely held her ground with him.. She had some pretty good one-liners in there too. If you've read any of this woman's supernatural romance, then you know how this book reads. I lost count how many times she used the word velvet. I'm really not a romance reader, so by the end of the book I was skipping the sex scenes skimming the repetitive bits about how perfect they were for each other, yadda yadda yadda, and was trying to finish reading the bits with some actual plot in it.I am absolutely here for everything in this book, I thoroughly enjoyed the interpretation and creation of the lore surround the Goddess of Death, the Grimm brothers, the other deities and a plethora of other magical creatures. Gregori “The Dark One” is the healer of his people, and second in command to the prince, who also happens to be his best friend. Gregori has defended his people and protected them and killed vampires left and right. He has studied and learned everything he can to be the most knowledgable and cunning. He has few friends, many enemies, and has searched for his lifemate for centuries. When Mikhail and Raven conceived a girl, he knew she was his lifemate, and he must stay strong for her. She is his only hope. Gregori can be a hard hero to like. He is very rough around the edges, believes women should be protected in a cacoon and away from any and all danger. He is very “alpha male” and he is possessive. But Gregori is also very easy to connect with. As soon as you see the real Gregori, who has lived a life of killing and darkness, we see a man that only wants to be loved and needed. All of the recommended books are relatively new. They’re condensed versions of various grimoires from centuries ago, along with new discoveries and peculiarities of the writer in question. If you haven’t read occult classics on which most of these works are based on, perhaps you should also include them on your reading list. These are the most important ones: However, with that said, I can definitely see other people enjoy this book if they like a book that freely mixes fairytales and mythologies, a stubborn och sarcastic goddess, battles with mythological monsters, and a big journey through many different lands. But don’t expect an enemies to lovers romance. I absolutely loved this! I've read a lot of good books this year so far, & this is definitely in my top 3. In this, we're introduced to Primrose Titan, the Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. Enter the calamity. Lucifer, King of Demons, who escapes from his cage in hell. His escape is what prompts the story. Prim is paired up with Atlas, God of Ice & one-half of the Grimm Brothers, to kill Lucifer. Neither is happy about this, but the story gets juicier & juicier from there.
