Some parts of this were really interesting and had some great ideas/fun facts about things that tied in nicely. In that sense, this book can also be read as a short introduction to Morton’s philosophy, which judging by his other books, provides solid theoretical foundations for a critical reflection on the contemporary human condition. Started as one of my artist practices, CAP became also a cultural association based in Rome, that coordinated all the initiatives. aligns with fletcher’s freakology but acknowledges that no, a virus and a human does not have the same rights.

It is an itinerant and multimedia project that uses: installations, sculptures, paintings, wall paintings and performances as political ecology and nature-culture agency. His conceptual imagery is characterized by the presence of natural elements, such as rocks and minerals. Published as part of Penguin’s new Green Ideas Series, this slim paperback sits alongside nineteen other works of environmental writing. The result is fruitful in that the conflict of interpretations that ensues generates a culture’s history. I am like a mermaid, constantly pulled and pulling, pushed and pushing, flicked and flicking, turned and opened, moving with the current, pursing away with the force I can muster. This was just a philosophical ego trip guised as a critique on the state of our current ecological warfare.

They have collaborated with Björk, Laurie Anderson, Jennifer Walshe, Hrafnhildur Arnadottir, Sabrina Scott, Adam McKay, Jeff Bridges, Justin Guariglia, Olafur Eliasson, and Pharrell Williams. Either we are being preached to as individuals, being made to feel bad and encouraged to change our habits, so that maybe we will feel better, because we think others think of us differently –or we are being lectured at, made to feel powerless, because the thought of revolution or other kinds of political change are very inspiring, but also bring up thoughts of how they might be resisted or constrained: the powers that be are too great, revolutions are always co-opted. It’s been more than fifteen years that I’ve been doing this kind of installation with the plants that sometimes are combined with metal sculptures, textiles, paint- ings, photos or other artworks. Provocative and playful, All Art is Ecological explores the strangeness of living in an age of mass extinction, and shows us that emotions and experience are the basis for a deep philosophical engagement with ecology.but regarding hyperobjects i think i agree with ursula heise — it’s good but it feels like an idea that’s almost too large to control?
