Again, the black flick-fire mounts look a little out of place; I think dark or light bluish grey would have been a better choice. And of course it uses the Trans-Yellow windshield, which comes with a great sticker of a cross-hair target - but I couldn't possibly add that to such a rare part! Most, sadly, are stickered but I'm overjoyed that the 2X4 18° slopes in Blue [BL]/Bright Blue [TLG] with the Classic Space logo are printed parts (Element ID 6078302 | Design ID 30363). You can tell when a set designer is into what they’re building, and this is a set built out of love (and bricks). I'm at least pleased to report the engraving quality is a lot better than the one I got in an earlier LEGO Movie set.

His classic smiley is slightly different to the older ones, and he has his crazy manic look on the reverse. I was really worried it wouldn't capture the intangible magic of Classic Space and just leave me feeling like it was any other modern-day Space set but in blue/grey/trans-yellow. Certainly, the 'LL929' decals are part of the set's charm, and the white stripe along the sides of the cockpit looks smart, even if it isn't completely essential.Kitty has the pearl gold 1x1 plates as her feet; the rest of her costume resembles a blue space-suit, with its own CS logo printed - albeit badly, in my case - on the 1x3 arch. This product was not as advertised, the lego box was not in good condition, the pieces looked as the parts was taken apart and rebagged. The other nice thing about this element is that Blue 1X3 arches without printing are rare anyway, having only appeared in one set in 1989. Unlike the other figures, which work all put together, this guy is actually more interesting as parts than the final figure.

In the first image, you can see how the engine intakes are created as SNOT-mounted castle windows; the octagonal section at the lower right contains an intriguing trench whose walls a formed of 2x4 SNOT brackets: it too me a moment or two to work out what this was for. Unikitty gets her own little section in here as well… the ship is built to hold more figures than come with it (and that’s not counting the wing shuttles… which I don’t remember in the movie at all anyway). This was a memorable part of the movie that’s relived in the set, even if there are a few unique parts to it here. The build kicks off with three small craft; two of which are the same - a little one-person craft in Classic Space colours. Once you've built the spaceship you can have hours of fun roleplaying with the characters Benny, Robo Emmet, Space Wyldstyle, Robo Pilot and Astro Kitty, as these are all included.

There are things the designer might have done differently: the ship could have been built with an opening rear, like 497/928, or with separating sections, like 6980; however, I think they were wise to keep the set different enough to prevent it being branded a re-hash of an old classic. It's a fairly unremarkable selection here, but you will be pleased to see that the Classic Space logo is indeed printed on the 2x4 slope. Her excellent hoodie piece comes in plain Blue too (Element ID 6078231 | Design ID 15853), which will be much more useful than her regular multicoloured one. The spaceship was then last seen when Emmet tried to move to get the Piece of Resistance so he could still save the Lego World and his friends. Finally, you can push one of the engines forward, to open the wings wider, revealing two of the guns.
