Description

Some of the ingredients of highest concern include formaldehyde, sodium borate, sulfuric acid and triclosan, which have been linked to vision damage, cancer and “acute aquatic toxicity.” Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds is a balnced formulation of naturally derived surfactants scented with fir & spruce essential oils. It cleans with exceptional power and rinses freely in hard or soft water, is gentle on the skin, ,100% cruelty free and biodegrades rapidly, without affecting nature's balance. Stain Removal: You can use Sal Suds to pre-treat stains on clothing or fabric. Apply a small amount directly to the stain, allow it to soak a bit, and wash as usual. I talk a lot about the exceeding versatility of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap and Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds. There are so many overlapping uses. But is there any time in which they aren’t interchangeable? Yes, but just a few. You can easily wring out the excess water before applying the mop to your flooring so you aren’t just spreading around a bunch of water.

Add the baking soda to a bowl or directly to your storage container, followed by the castile soap or Sal Suds and hydrogen peroxide. Add in up to 40 drops of essential oils (see above for my favorite combination that makes your house smell like Heaven!), and one cup of white distilled vinegar. Add an essential oil of choice (if using) to the soap (now in the jar) and stir to combine with the detergent. Spray/mist desired surfaces and allow it to soak for 15-30 seconds (spray into the rag for electronics cleaning). Oral Appliances & CPAPs: Removable retainers, nightguards, etc. & dentures: Wet device. Add 1-2 drops of soap to a soft toothbrush. Brush gently, then rinse. CPAP mask, tubing, and headgear: Submerge in a warm water with a small squirt. Allow to sit 30 minutes, then wash, rinse, and towel dry. Allow to air dry thoroughly before reassembling.

A trying experience

A single soap molecule is hydrophobic on one end and hydrophilic on the other. The hydrophobic end repels water and attaches to the oil. The hydrophilic end attracts water. When soap is mixed with the oil in the water, it binds with the dirt and oil, separating it into small drops that are easily rinsed away. By the way, this post isn’t sponsored. Some readers wanted to know more about Sal Suds. So I decided to write a post explaining what Sal suds is, and how to use it to formulate homemade natural cleaners. We then filled a sink with two gallons of water at 110 °F. Next, we added a teaspoon of soap liquid and stirred it up with our hand to create bubbles. We noted the amount of foam created. Surprisingly, there was quite a difference between the different soap varieties. While this may turn out to be a personal preference, we did assign a score to each one. A score of one meant no suds, a score of three meant full sink coverage, but suds only a couple of inches deep. Meanwhile, a score of five meant dense, high suds, four inches high or more. Grated bar soap: In a food processor, combine one grated bar of soap with 4 c. (960 mL) baking soda. Pulse to blend. Use ¼-⅓ c. (60-80 mL) per large load.

Please note that any product containing water needs a preservative to inhibit the growth of mould and bacteria. I use Optiphen Plus, a natural paraben-free preservative, in the easy homemade cleaning recipes. Conclusion To make your floors and home smell like Heaven, this is the combination I like to use: 20 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 15 drops of lemon essential oil, and 10 drops of sweet orange. While high concentrations of some essential oils can be toxic to some animals (some animals like birds and cats are more sensitive than others), products containing essential oil concentrations of less than 1–2% are generally considered nontoxic if used according to label directions. Rest assured that the essential oils in our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner falls within this range. When used according to our recommendations, these products will be diluted even further and should pose no threat to your animal. I strongly suggest that the first time you use Sal Suds, you buy either a 16 or a 32 oz Bottle to start out with to see if you even like it (I don’t want you wasting your money and cursing me if you decide you’re not a fan…lol).

On the internet, you’ll find a long list of unsubstantiated allegations about the dangers of SLS, some even link the product to caner. I read study after study and article upon article but didn’t find any scientific evidence that this is true. (source 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) I buy all my essential oils from DoTERRA but you can use whichever brand you feel comfortable with. Some of my favorite oils to use in this natural laundry detergent are: Simply having washing soda in your homemade laundry soap is great, however you can use it alone for those tough stains as well. Simply pre-soak a tough stain in washing soda and water to give it a jump start before washing. But we’re not talking about just one. Surfactant molecules work in groups. In a solution, they float around looking for oil molecules and snag with those hydrophobic tails, totally surrounding each oil molecule so there’s no part of the oil molecule left exposed to water. This little nugget is called a micelle. Optional Ingredients: I like to add glycerin and a nourishing oil to this dish soap recipe for moisturizing benefits. Trust me, your hands will thank you! You can add these ingredients or skip them, either way you’ll still create an effective dish soap.

Its primary function is to cut through grease and grime, making it exceptionally effective for various household cleaning tasks.Still don’t want to use Sal Suds? That is your right + choice, and I support it! I just want to give you the necessary information to make an informed decision. On a side note The second magical power of surfactants is that they make oil and water coexist. Which they don’t otherwise like to do. This is why you can’t just rinse oil off your hands. The water runs over the oil like it’s just not there. And it just doesn’t care.
