Charlie took a minute to grow on me, but I think our main female character felt the same way about him. in the beginning of the book he tries to come off as cool and different for not following laws but to me that only made him annoying. I figured it would prove that I’d be around because I’d want to see him every few days for, like, forever. All in all this book was a very enjoyable read, offering a little bit of everything - which, as it turns out, was precisely what I needed.

AAAAND he was willing to give bailey his damn CAT that he loved so much just to prove that he'd want to see bailey forever. SPOILERS AHEAD - WARNING❗️❗️❗️ Also: Why did Aaron take Nekesa back if Bailey never took Zach back for DOING THE SAME THING? it was so out of touch for bailey to just place a bet that her best friend would get with a guy, and not let nekesa know so she could avoid a big conflict with her boyfriend. she did fall for c-dog, and also tried to sabotage her mom's relationship with a wonderful guy; but i'm not a child of divorce, so i don't know how hard it could be to adjust to a new "dad". When seventeen-year-old Bailey starts a new job at a hotel waterpark, she is less than thrilled to see an old acquaintance is one of her coworkers.now that doesn’t mean i didn’t like it, i mean i did give it four stars and i for the most part find myself to be a picky rater, but i loved this! By the second chapter I was pretty hooked because the internal dialogue and verbal exchanges between the characters was pretty realistic and often hysterical, in my opinion.

Only complaint in this regard is that it also included one of my least favourite tropes, which is the bet-trope, which I just find to be a little tired. The banter was cute, and age-appropriate for the characters ( something that I find ++important when it does come to the YA genre ), and even though I found that their feelings were “big” for their ages, it’s probably just because I’m looking at that time period from the rearview mirror. His relationship with Bailey was incredibly sweet and I enjoyed them as friends that slowly transitioned into something more. plus these book are so incredibly unrealistic and it annoys me bc shit like this never happens but it’s YA so i need to stop being such a scrooge. when scott showed up at the pizza place when bailey and her mom were having a girls' night to PROPOSE, i nearly lost my shit because the timing could not have been worse; the one day it's just bailey and her mom?Wrong Number, The Do-Over, Betting on You, and Nothing Like the Movies, as well as being a regular contributor to the Omaha World-Herald. This one featured kids of divorced parents + great anxiety rep in a male character, both of which were really well done. Will they develop real feelings for each other and how will they face the challenges that stand in their way.

This book was also super easy and enjoyable to read- it's a great bingeable read to get you out a reading slump 🥰 There was also divorce rep that was a big part of the book, which i really appreciated.spoiler* For real though, if someone was going to give me their pet that they loved more than almost anything, just to prove to me that they would never leave me. I did think that their relationship was missing something as I read through the book, which is weird because this author has always delivered on relationships for me in the past.
