Kris has survived the unsurvivable for twelve years. A turd" is a dollop of faecal matter, broadly speaking having the form it is given by the process of being expelled from the rectum. It is questionable whether it is properly applied to something too liquid to retain its shape. Using the term to describe, say, a slurry pit would be inaccurate. A slurry pit may contain matter which used to be turds, but it is not itself a turd, and it probably does not contain turds either as they will havee been broken down into an amorphous mass, losing their shape and individual identity. Using the epxression to describe a floor made of dried faecal matter is likewise inaccurate. So my first thank you to Kris is for the knowledge.I couldn’t put it down, Kris had me hooked straight away. It is funny and emotional and trustworthy, thoughtful and important and so real. She doesn’t hide away from the fact that having cancer, and knowing someone with cancer, is a real shit show (literally and figuratively), but she also doesn’t hide away from the fact it can bring joy into your life. You learn to live more if you know your time is numbered. She is an advocate for those with a disability and additional needs, as well as being an ally to other marginalised groups in society. Rosie is truly a force of nature and someone we should aspire all be a bit more like.
