An idyllic sequence follows, in which the trio transitions from fourteen to eighteen, glorying in the joys of youth and summer, even as the Narrator warns that soon, both their joy and their childhood will end. The main characters in Blood Brothers are the twins Mickey Johnstone and Edward Lyons, and their mothers Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Lyons.

Russell has also written television projects, including the one-off drama, Our Day Out, which aired in 1977. Johnstone, a lower class woman who was abandoned by her husband after giving birth to five children, and while pregnant with another. Russell received BAFTA and Oscar nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for both Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.Elias was born in the early 40's to a Palestinian Christian family that dates its roots back to New Testament times. This book is a memoir, the personal account of the author's experiences living, first in the British Mandate of Palestine and then, after the Israeli war of independence, in Israel. It showed us the readers an insight into what mood they were in such as tension, happiness and despair. This is the original version of the play, initially commissioned for performance by the Merseyside Young People's Theatre Company.
