Much of the movie’s charm (as evidenced by the trailer) comes from seeing the hilariously contentious relationship between Roberts and Clooney as they try to work together no matter how hard it is to be in close proximity to each other. Ticket to Paradise” stars Roberts and Clooney as a divorced couple who travel to Bali to stop their daughter (Kaitlyn Dever) from getting married. Academy AwardwinnersGeorge Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made. When she saw the script for Ticket to Paradise, she knew there was only one way it would work: with George Clooney. Bitter divorced couple trying to "save" their daughter, only to discover that working together again isn’t as bad as they thought it would be.

Academy Award® winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made. This time around they’re playing a divorced couple going to great lengths to keep their daughter from making the same mistakes they did, only it doesn’t go quite as planned. I hadn’t really done a romantic comedy since ‘One Fine Day’ [in 1996] — I haven’t succeeded like Julia has in that forum — but I read it and thought, ‘Well, if Jules is up for it, I think this could be fun. A divorced couple teams up and travels to Bali to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they think they made 25 years ago. They agree to team up to present a united front against their daughter’s plan to get married, but things don't go to plan at all.Lead star Roberts previously addressed why she stayed away from romantic comedies for more than 20 years before reading director Parker’s script for the film and said that “Ticket to Paradise” could have been a “disaster” if co-star Clooney didn’t sign on to play her onscreen ex-husband. For one divorced couple, there can be no agreement; for several decades, they fight like cats and dogs. From Working Title, Smokehouse Pictures and Red Om Films, Ticket to Paradise is a romantic comedy about the sweet surprise of second chances. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel or even give it particularly fresh treads but, to be fair, it’s clearly not trying to either. It’s hard to believe that Notting Hill star Roberts hasn’t been in a romantic comedy in over two decades and we’re glad to see her back at it.

She’s head over heels in love with him and her parents believe that she’s about to make a big mistake. Academy Award® winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made. Ticket to Paradise is the story of a former married couple, played by Roberts and Clooney, who travel to Bali to prevent their daughter, Lily (played by Kaitlyn Dever), from marrying a guy she’s just met. She continued: "If I had read something that I thought was that Notting Hill level of writing or My Best Friend’s Wedding level of madcap fun, I would do it.Worst 19 years of my life,” remarks Clooney’s character in the trailer, as he references his disastrous marriage with Roberts's character. When Georgia and David are dropping Lily and Wren off at the airport that is presumably in the United States, a sign references "prams" and "trolleys.

You have to imagine Clooney and Roberts, two people who are good pals in real life, read this script and saw the chance to have a holiday in an exotic location with a buddy, all the while being paid for it. Chris Knight of the National Post had this to say: " Ticket to Paradise is an old-school rom-com from start to finish. With the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, Universal, Working Title, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and director Ol Parker have all decided to delay the opening of ‘Ticket to Paradise’ in the UK until after the Queen’s funeral out of respect to the Royal Family and the people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” a statement read. I’ve done some sort of snarky ones, you know, and in this one Julia and I just get to be mean to each other in the funniest way.
