The Ascension hovers above her, a powerful force that has the potential to change the course of history. and I'm so frustrated on all of the hints (since the first book I picked it up, I might add) on what's coming but of course that's skated over the entire series. Kolis has Sera, but she manages to convince him that she is Sotoria reborn, even though she doesn’t look like her that much. I am so beyond excited for the final book in the series to end Sera and Nyktos' story and to finally get most of my questions answered!

Aside from this rollercoaster of emotions, there are a whole bunch of major revelations for both this series and the original. Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories.

She is published with Tor, HarperCollins Avon and William Morrow, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion, Harlequin Teen, and Blue Box Press; and PassionFlix recently made her Wicked series into a feature film. It’s been in the back of my head since then, and I have kept hoping, and I’m so glad that we got that answer! I will finish this book, eventually, just for the sake of the series, but this is not the first time she has done this. What we learn over 31 chapters is that Kolis is a A-hole (we knew that already) and Sera is more neurotic than we ever imagined. One thing that I always appreciate in Jen’s writing is that no matter what the characters never lose their spark or drive and they are no damsel.

It was not bad, but again, Sera's inner monologues felt long and repetitive, and there were parts of the story that dragged on, so it was not my favorite book of this series for sure. Nyktos tries to save her, but ends up being beaten by Kolis and Sera and Nyktos then spend about 60% of the book being in a cage.But, ultimately, as this is a prequel, while we don’t know how things will go down—we do know what will go down. Will listen to again to make sure I didn’t miss something and know where to skip when stuck in repetitive monologue. Even the fillers in this book are filled with information that you know will be useful later on in this series or the other. I’ve already taken a huge chunk and traded in at McKay’s (those who know me know what that is) I still have them from kindle sakes and of course Audible. Due to this diagnosis, educating people on the varying degrees of blindness has become another passion for her, right alongside writing, which she plans to do for as long as she can.
