Service to Youth Award" for improving the lives of adolescents and children with mental accessibility issues from the University of San Francisco Catholic Youth Organization and St. Mary's Medical Center, November 1999. Steel was born Danielle Fernandes Dominique Schuelein-Steel in New York City to a German father and a Portuguese mother. Her father, John Schuelein-Steel, was a German-Jewish immigrant and a descendant of owners of Löwenbräu beer. Her mother, Norma da Camara Stone dos Reis, was the daughter of a Portuguese diplomat. [8] [9] [10] [11] She spent much of her childhood in France, [12] where from an early age she was included in her parents' dinner parties, giving her an opportunity to observe the habits and lives of the wealthy and famous. [10] Her parents divorced when she was eight, and she was raised primarily by her father, rarely seeing her mother. [8] And the characters? INFURIATING. Absolutely INFURIATING. The "heroines" of this novel are simpering, foolish, feelings-dominated women who are not smart, strong, or logical. Abuse is painted as a "tragedy that stemmed from what once was love," with the main character giving her junkie husband 50,000 chances before finally deciding to leave him (and chooses him ahead of her daughter's safety). Steel married for a fifth time, to Silicon Valley financier Thomas James Perkins, but the marriage ended after four years in 2002. [28] Steel has said that her novel The Klone and I was inspired by a private joke between herself and Perkins. [29] In 2006, Perkins dedicated his novel Sex and the Single Zillionaire to Steel. Hunt, Elle (May 13, 2019). "Is it possible to work 22-hour days? Danielle Steel says it is the secret of her success"– via www.theguardian.com.

I just happened to catch this on TV - seeing the name Nastassja Kinski always makes me want to watch, but seeing the name Danielle Steel always makes me worry... There was nothing to worry about. This was a wonderful miniseries, brought to life by a good story and fabulous actors. Nell'ultima parte del libro si parla di Vanessa e Charlie, di un viaggio alla scoperta di se e del proprio passato e di come si possa amare incondizionatamente qualcuno. The book is in 3 parts. I loved the first part, and the build up of Serena's and Brad's relationship, Serena and Teddy's (younger brother of Brad) friendship. But during the second part the book lost all its interest to me. Serena's entire character development was destroyed for me. But when Pattie makes a sudden visit to Brad, it only takes her one look at Brad to convince her of her suspicions.
