The irregular shapes of the different pieces makes it very difficult to see which pieces fit together and where the pieces are supposed to be. Can hook in a bit when you turn but it is only because you have not put the bearings completely in line and the pieces point in all directions and edges, but it belongs and everything goes really well if you turn calmly and nicely. It barely cuts corners at all, which in combination with the fact that it shape-shifts makes it difficult to get the layers completely in line with each other sometimes, which can make it easy to get off in the middle of algorithms if you are not careful.

At first glance, it’s a normal six-sided cube, but within a few twists it will have more angles and unusual shapes-upon-shapes than you’ll know what do with—let alone solve!As an added challenge, if all layers of the cube are aligned in a certain way, another turn becomes possible – straight through the middle of the aligned layers. Take a good look at it while its a cube because it may well take a while to get it back into shape again, like a Rubik's but better!

But with just a few twists you’ll quickly create more angles and odd formations that will leave you scrambling to whip this puzzle back into shape. Unlike puzzles with similar solved states such as the Mirror Blocks (a significantly easier puzzle), the Ghost Cube has several different shaped pieces, making the “centre” pieces less obvious to begin with. Personally, however, I’m starting to regret that I bought a black one, because after seeing pictures of yellow ghost cubes with black stickers, I think they are by far the most beautiful, but it’s a bit late. The puzzle had an initial market in early 2009, however the Ghost Cube remained simply a concept cube until puzzle designers took to amplifying the difficulty further – Larger Ghost Cubes were made (as though the original wasn’t difficult enough), and eventually even a 7x7 Ghost Cube was designed (pictured below).I can really recommend this to anyone who wants to take a step beyond the standard 3×3 cube and Mirror Cube. Perfect if you want a different and tricky challenge without having to learn a lot of new algorithms!
