and to reposition oneself as an evolving person, where eventual failures aren't a destination, but maybe the path to successes. Führungskräften, Lehrern, Coaches und jedem, der andere Menschen beeinflussend durch ihr Leben begleitet. It's worth reading/listening to it to, maybe, refocus and fall in love again with our careers, our work - I guess sometime earlier there was such a thing, wasn't there? I read a book on John Wooden a month or two ago and Coach K is another coach who has built his life and program on good, unshaken values.

This book also taught me that school always comes first, education is key, you won't get anywhere in life without education. Throughout the season, I look into my players' eyes to gauge feelings, confidence levels, and to establish instant trust.I was disappointed because there was not much to separate this book from any other leadership book written by a coach.

If you like Duke or Coach K and you are looking for leadership book to read, then I recommend this book. I don't read books very often, but this book had me interested the whole time, and kept me thinking about his way of coaching, and how effective it really is. Our mom, Emily, was a homemaker and a cleaning woman who scrubbed floors at the Chicago Athletic Club. While it's always up to the individual student to graduate, I also believe it's incumbent upon the school to positively influence its athletes in their studies. It was definitely interesting seeing Coach K's thoughts and experiences with leadership and its theories.

If I hope to get the most out of these players as a group, I have to coach them differently than previous teams. I wouldn't say it is a particularly good book, but it is partially responsible for my decision to switch my commitment from the rowing team at Brown University to the one at University of California Berkeley. Grant Hill once perceptively remarked that every team he played on during his four years at Duke, I coached differently.

If the answer to that question is, "Yes, we should have a team," then we should have the best damn team we can possibly have. I'll be "fair" in everything I do, but the players won't be "equal" with regard to on-the-court playing time. I'm glad that I did read it though, as I've gained some great insight on someone who is a successful team leader and I can definitely apply this to my every day life. Then I'll usually pop in with something like: "Just remember, the managers are part of our team-as is everyone here. While the "tips" and learning aspects were very good and our Scrum Master network focused our conversations around these topics, I often found myself wondering if Coach K had written this book to address critics. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Early in the preseason, I'll often have a casual conversation with one of our players about his personal life. I enjoyed the stories about his experiences coaching his team's and how he dealt with specific situations, I didn't always like the hamfisted attempt to extrapolate those annecdotes into general business advice. It shows not only that the leader cares, but that he also might know a little something about the employee's personal life.
