Description

The Lupercal Green paint from Citadel Colours is a deep, emerald shade of green that exudes power and strength. It’s the kind of color that would make any miniature or model stand out, like a shining beacon in the darkness. Lupercal Green can help you recreate the Sons of Horus Space Marines if you fancy playing a pre-heresy army, but otherwise you can use the green hue for any other Space Marine, The spear and green details were painted using the same colours as my Sons of Velmorn cloth – it just works for so many details and textures, giving them a slightly unnatural stone. Perfect for a god-like creature like the Avatar of Khaine.

Mutant Innards (Tongues, Tentacles, Exposed Muscle, Blood Vials): – Base with Daemonette Flesh. – Wash with Guilliman Blue (if available) or 50/50 Tallasar Blue/Contrast Medium – Carefully Highlight with Warpfiend Grey. – Edge Highlight with Slaanesh Grey. A good source for inspiration for Genecult colour schemes is to look at their tentacle-mawed gods’s own. After all, it’d make sense they wanna emulate the giant space bugs they’re desperately trying to summon right? The 2019 codex features 2 minor cults that do this with the Sons of Jormungandr and the Behemoid Undercult parroting the schemes for Hive Fleets Jormungandr and Behemoth respectively, with and this formed the basis for my own cult’s scheme based off the cold minty chitin of Hive Fleet Tiamet. What might be confusing here is the uniform, where I start with Nuln to darken and desaturate it a bit before Druchii gets colour right. Highlights – Making the gribblies popFor the ridged sections between any carapace plates, basecoat with Xereus Purple and shade with Druchii Violet

The first round of base coats are for the skin, and this is pretty much what you can see. I used Carroburg on the more evidently Tyranid hybrids and then various flesh contrasts for the more human range skin tones. I painted Horus’ face shortly after the Warhammer+ video on painting Caucasian skin debuted, and that informed my thinking as to how to paint Horus. For the human skin highlight the colours are basically just moving left to right from darkest to lightest of this trio of paints. The darker skin is a couple of thin coats of Knight-Questor, then for the last highlight mixing in a touch of Cadian. The medium skin tone started with Cadian followed by mixing in a bit of Kislev for the final highlight of the medium tone. Then I reused that Cadian/Kislev mix for the initial highlight of the lightest tone that was then finished off with kislev. The hybrid skin is a couple of thin coats of Ushabti over the base coat, you can push it a touch further with screaming skull if you want. It’s not a huge secret I love anything with pointed ears, be it Aeldari, Drukhari, or any flavour of Aelves. When the Sylvaneth were released for Age of Sigmar, I was blown away by the sheer creativity of the range. When Ylthari’s Guardians were released for my current favourite Games Workshop game, I knew I had to paint them. They were also a great practice piece for using the Contrast paint range that was released around the same time. Paint Recipes

Perhaps using some Coelia Greenshade either over it or as a recess shade.

To get river/lake looking shiny I just kinda pour some gloss varnish from the bottle on, you will want a paper clip or something to poke any bubbles. The penultimate step is painting the rims with your choice of paint, in this case I used dryad to match my Tyranids. The last model thing the models need is to throw on some tufts, I like using these ones from Gamers Grass: Thinned down glazes of Scalecolour FX Fluor Orange following these lines, pulling the paint towards the lantern, so the colour is strongest closer to the bulb itself. Feather the colour with a bit of water at the farthest extremes to create a soft gradient between the orange and non-orange colour, the gel medium of the Scalecolour paints really helps when it comes to blending it out like this. With its connections to Horus Lupercal, the legendary Primarch of the Luna Wolves Space Marine legion, the Lupercal Green paint is sure to imbue your models with a sense of regality and nobility. http://www.wargamesfoundry.com - also do a range of similar to Citadel paints, will update when can get chance. Horus also has a scenic base. The 40 mm base is just one big piece, and there’s a little L-shaped connecting piece to hold the 40 mm base to the 60 mm base. The 60 mm scenic base has the main plate, and five parts of the bannister – the rail and four uprights. The “broken” upright goes at the lowest point on the base. The other three uprights all have corresponding damage with parts of the 60 mm base. The slope of the uprights will all have the same orientation, to support the rail. Dry fit all of these parts together first.

Lucentini, M. (31 December 2012). The Rome Guide: Step by Step through History's Greatest City. Interlink. ISBN 9781623710088. I painted the whole cape Gal Vorbak Red, with two thin coats. I then layered up with Khorne Red, a blend of Khorne Red and Mephiston Red, Mephiston Red, and then a last highlight of a blend of Mephiston Red and Averland Sunset. For 4th generation hybrids (Neophytes and other more human models) you can substitute the use of Genestealer Flesh Mix with your normal skin colour, and simply glaze the shadows with a bit of Druchii Violet.

Gravel: Mechanicus Standard Grey, Drybrush Corax White, Wash with a 1:1 mix of TAP Dark Tone / Strong Tone Ink Colour Citadel’s Lupercal Green is a bold, vibrant shade of green that evokes the lush greenery of a forest.Prepare basic fleshtone mix from Slaanesh Grey, Cadian Fleshtone, and Ushabti Bone (5:3:1). I made a whole batch of this in a dropper bottle for all of my first to third generation Genestealers, so that the tone would be consistent across units. Hereafter I’ll refer to this as Genestealer Flesh Mix. At this point, I attached both arms to the main body. This would make it easier to paint the weapons. The characters have a lot of gems and such, which I painted orange as a contrasting colour. Recipe-wise, the key colours are as below. I wanted this Warhammer Underworlds warband to have a look that really reflected the Death faction in the Mortal Realms – rich dark purples and contrasting, ghostly green hues definitely felt very Shyishan, fitting a realm constantly shrouded in amethyst magics. It gave the warband an unnerving undead style, especially compared to their normal royal blue heraldry. http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?s=c770bc029dd218be5d17fff14fecefeb&showtopic=17678&st=0&p=266494&#entry266494
