Everyone has something dark in their past. I suppose it's our job to overcome it. And if we can’t overcome it, then all we can do is make the most of it.” The plot was boring for the most part. The main character found herself in so many stupid situations, I was laughing because of how badly the whole plotline was executed. Make. It. More. Realistic. Thank. You. There's no way anyone, not even someone in a YA fantasy book, could have found themselves doing the things Alosa did because that just not something a normal person does. What other stories do you know that involve the Sirens? How do those stores turn out? Does anyone ever get the best of the Sirens? Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map―the key to a legendary treasure trove―seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. Alosa is daughter to the Pirate King- a notorious captain who owns all of the seas and controls those within it... as well as some on land.

She has everything figured out. But does she? What she doesn't see coming is someone who can see through her nefarious plans and that's where our big, too-hot-for-a-pirate and super charming first mate, Riden comes in. Yes, we should all worship the stars. They are as useful as they are beautiful. Some never change position. They are constants in the sky. Without them, we would be lost.” I finished this one last night and I have to say that I really love this series overall - even though I wish there had been more with the sirens in this one? 🏴‍☠☠️⚓🧜 This was the first time I've stayed up late to finish a book in a while 😅 It was completely accidental, but I really enjoyed the story and couldn't put it down so here we are 🤷 This seems to keep happening to me with pirate books!

Would definitely recommend this! Alosa is a fantastic character—along with everyone else—but I love how she acts. I love that she doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do. She’s bad-ass and the way she talks is just great. I still can’t get over that I finished the book. So heart breaking! Anyway, read the book—now. It’s awesome! If you’re sorry, that means you want forgiveness. Is that what you’re asking for? If you want forgiveness, that means you want to make things right. And if you want to make things right, that means that you don’t intend to put me in harm’s way again. So, if you are saying you’re sorry, I don’t think you understand what that entails.” And Riden. A definite swoon worthy love interest. I loved the parts that had both Alosa and Riden together and it gave me so many warm feelings... *sighs*

But when the villainous Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared pirate king. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first.... After all, she’s the Daughter of the Siren Queen. With this new knowledge of her father's true nature in mind, she decides to set out on her own to claim the booty for herself and her crew. She feels no more allegiance to him. while this story is a slow burn (which i understand will turn off some readers), i quite enjoyed the slow placing and time taken to get to know the characters. this story also doesnt take itself seriously - its a little dramatic and over-the-top at times, but i enjoyed the light quality to it. During her preparations for her mission, she hadn't anticipated the strong influence of the clever and handsome Riden, the first mate and brother to the captain of the ship. As tension mounts aboard the ship, and time runs low to find the map, Alosa and Riden’s bond strengthens, and the plot takes an entirely unforeseen twist before reaching its dramatic conclusion. OMG so good!!! I love this book <3 Honestly it is probably one of my favorite books this year! As I had mentioned before, I am no fan of the cover. So I ended up just reading getting the ePUB, but man I adore this book so much I might buy a hard copy despite my dislike for the cover. To be the siren is to never be afraid. To never hunger or thirst. Never doubt or worry. Never fear."
