Be More Human - Discover the inherent human strengths and weaknesses and how to harness them to meet your aims and objectives. It would be another 50 years before an Austrian doctor began to talk about the hidden forces of the subconscious mind, but even Sigmund Freud couldn’t provide an adequate explanation for consciousness. In fact, to date, no-one has come close to describing the sheer magnificent wonder of being alive. The electric surge we feel when we kiss a lover, the deep stirring of the soul when we listen to Mozart’s Requiem, and the full flowing joy of laughing uncontrollably with our closest friends as we share a joke. In the 40s and 50s, scientists grew an interest in computers and the brain. The cognitive sciences and computer science were promising newborn fields that opened interesting research possibilities: Cybernetics, artificial neural networks, neuroscience, artificial intelligence… Slightly different fields coming from the same place but heading to very distinct futures. In the protection industry, we often talk about making our propositions more appealing to younger people. But to do that we need to talk to them more. And now we turn to computers. They certainly make us different. Among other things they can make us more knowledgeable by giving us easy access to information, increase the number and decrease the depth of our interactions with others, give us more skills including reaction times, knowledge acquisition, search skills, artistic skills and many more. They increase our vocabulary, and give us a wider understanding of the rest of the world. As time goes on they may replace more of our memories than they do already, increase the stress of information overload, link us into even larger networks, and may fundamentally change the way we think about ourselves and others. We, and our financial, scientific and communication systems would collapse without them, and many of us would no longer know how to live a computer-free life and would have to learn a whole lot of new (once old) skills all over again. Do any of these changes make us more – or less – human?

Charles Darwin had one of the greatest insights into the human condition that any of our species has had, changing thousands of years' of thought at the stroke of a pen, yet he had nothing to say about how we actually experience being human. Are we heading for a similar debacle with artificial intelligence (AI)? Once again, there’s a promise of cost cutting and some are talking about replacing humans completely. I hear stories of people using ChatGPT as a lifestyle coach or a therapist. Some even go as far to say that ChatGPT empathises with them. Blue light is another killer, and Riddle calls it “junk light” because of how it can affect your natural circadian rhythm and sleep patterns. He wears amber glasses in the evening if he’s looking at a screen, to minimize disruption. “Rewild yourself,” advised Riddle. Look at your home and office habitats to figure out where you can make small changes. Get outside or bring nature inside It’s an unconscious bias older people have – me and many that work in marketing and product development included – that means we project our own feelings and desire onto those of our customers and assume that’s what they want. But it isn’t, and I’m not convinced we are talking to them enough to find out.

Lost Connections - Connecting with and overcoming the causes of anxiety and depression in a look at the alternative to antidepressants. Habits - Tiny habits beat motivation and willpower every time! Lean how to form the best habits and create the behaviour you want for your self and others.Let’s be clear. While AI might eventually get there, at the moment it doesn’t empathise. It doesn’t feel. And it doesn’t understand. You need a real human for that. Humans are part of nature and nature is part of us; we are interconnected. The Be More Human Experience is where 42 Acresholdthe space and Tony provides the coaching tools and support for you to reconnect with what your eco human needs, NOT what your human ego wants. Octavia Calthorpe is a breathwork therapist and life coach based in London. Octavia has trained in America, the UK and Ireland in various modalities of breathwork including oxygen advantage and conscious connected breathwork. Or imagine any complex society that has flourished during human history, such as ancient Greece, with its political structures, money, schools, literature and philosophy. Or imagine the wonders of the vast Roman Empire. When this collapsed and Europe plunged into the dark ages, most of these aspects of civilisation were lost. Who then was more human – a Greek philosopher, an educated Roman citizen, or a medieval peasant? And just last week, I was monitoring the social feeds for a conference I’d wanted to go to but couldn’t and realised with a grin that “Be more human” was the theme most exciting the delegates again. Resilience - The ability to roll with the punches and overcome resistance to change. Discover the pillars of resilience and how to strengthen them in life and work. Her messages obviously resonated with the audience. In the pub afterwards, I heard “Be more human” being discussed more than that day’s football results. Being more human has to start with a deep, almost obsessive understanding of the humans who are our customers If we are to make the argument that some people are more human than others then we must have some way of measuring humanness, and I do not know of a viable way of doing that – despite my intuitions that a Greek philosopher is in some way more of a human being than a either the early cave dweller or the illiterate peasant.

Regenerative organisations/teams - Developing organic and nurturing workplaces that grow and sustain employees. How do we thrive in times of extraordinary pressure and change? The answers are hiding in plain sight. It's time to #BeMoreHuman. We can help you with this in 4 main ways: Using simple, effective and accessible avenues for people to unearth the multitude of benefits of breathwork. Octavia spends her days teaching others to reconnect to the power of their breath, to help relieve emotional issues, improve physical health and connect more deeply to their inner wisdom and the beautiful world we live in. Standing all the time isn’t necessarily what you want, either. As Riddle said, “It is as detrimental to stand for long periods of time with poor posture as it is to sit with poor posture.” Riddle rethinks seating while he works, using a low sitting desk set up for floor sitting. He transitions between, “ground sitting positions to help unravel, keep supple and strong. They maintain my posture and athleticism and keep me grounded and in my body” When the digital revolution began only 50 years ago, the world shrank. We became a global village, our hopes and dreams converted into an infinite stream of ones and zeroes echoing throughout cyberspace. Today, we stand astride the world as a god, with both the power to destroy our own planet and to create life.

We can't all live in nature, but we can all live more naturally and learn how to thrive instead of just survive. Twelve thousand years ago, we learned how to domesticate plants and other animals for food, and were able to settle in one place. We became a social animal, building complex communities that become kingdoms, learning to trade with each other using a concept called money.
