Description

The mouse has dual-connectivity - Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4Ghz wireless using Steelseries Quantum 2.0 wireless technology, which it claims transmits data “faster than ever before”. Of course, there is no tangible way of measuring this but it felt no different from previous Steelseries mice, or even other wireless mice from different manufacturers. Software and Performance Engineered with an ultra-lightweight 89g design for comfort and versatility, making it perfect for MOBA, MMO, and other complex games.

Of course, any similarly-equipped MMO/MOBA mouse could do this, but it couldn't do it while only weighing 89g, nor while providing a sensor and switches that I'd feel confident taking into any competitive FPS (the shape and weight of this particular mouse notwithstanding). Next-gen wireless is here. 2.0 Quantum technology transmits data faster than ever before, with industry-leading power efficiency and stability. Lag-free gaming breaks the barrier between you and the screen with an ultra-fast 2.4GHz connection.

Quantum 2.0 Wireless transmits data at unreal speeds, giving the flexibility of 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth 5.0, while also allowing for 180 hours of continuous play with fast charging. And that's all you need to know on how to pair your gaming mouse with your PC. The process will be similar to other devices, you just have to initiate the pairing on them first. Underneath the mouse you will find your standard PTFE glides, including a circular one for the sensor. We are not sure if the sensor glide aids in improving performance, but it doesn’t seem to hurt in any way, so it’s a nice indulgence to have. A single battery charge lasts up to 150 hours just like the Naga Pro. In terms of durability, its IP54-rated Aquabarrier is said to protect against spills and debris, which should keep it safe despite the open mesh design. Should you buy it? Side note: I wouldn't recommend this mouse, or any MMO/MOBA mouse, for real-time strategy (RTS) games like StarCraft II. The extremely high APM (Actions per Minute) those games require to be successful on a competitive level aren't helped much by having your mouse hand's thumb getting in on the action.

Combined with these good looks, this is also a well built and especially sturdy mouse that justifies its price. It’s made from hard plastics that don’t feel soft or horrible. There’s not much in the way of rattling or anything of the sort.A lot of the hoo-hah surrounding the Aerox 9 Wireless relates to how light it is, for an MMO/MOBA mouse, which goes hand in hand with how comfortable it is. It weighs just 89g, which makes it the lightest mouse of this type I’ve tested.

The charging cable, Mouse Extension Adapter, and USB-C wireless dongle bundled in with both the Aerox 5 Wireless and Aerox 9 Wireless Michael Gariffo Connectivity and charging Of course, all your configurations will be run through the SteelSeries Swarm software. I have my own gripes about this program; it's a very crowded affair, with a swathe of product ads to wade through before you can easily find your own gear. Still, it's comprehensive and will give tinkerers plenty to play with when fine-tuning their experience. It's fair to say that the mouse has a steep learning curve. I'm sure that dedicated players will eventually figure out where each button is, and maybe even feel comfortable enough to assign multiple shortcuts to each key. But even after using the Aerox 9 Wireless for a few days, it was harder to play FFXIV with the mouse than without it. Compare and contrast to a mouse like the Razer Naga Pro, which lets you customize the number of buttons on the side panel. SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless review: Verdict AquaBarrier™ technology is IP54-rated to provide water resistance and protection from dust, dirt, and more. Weighing 6g, our battery is 14g lighter than those in other multi-genre mice, while still giving over 180 hours of battery life. The extremely comprehensive button remapping options within the GG software Michael Gariffo Lighting and buttons To be clear, the 180-hour playtime claim SteelSeries mentions in the Aerox 9 Wireless' marketing materials requires use of the mouse's Bluetooth connectivity, not its 2.4GHz dongle. This means you'll be subject to the inherent latency Bluetooth connectivity adds, when compared to more standard 2.4GHz gaming mouse connections. On the underside, there’s some smooth PTFE glide pads which makes this a joy to use, especially given how smooth using it is. Performance

Despite that puzzling quirk, the Aerox 9 Wireless is loaded with customization potential. Every time I load up a game, I find myself playing a little metagame where I spend a few minutes creating the perfect profile. It’s a perfect gaming mouse for control freaks. Our take The Aerox 9 Wireless can be customized using the Steelseries GG companion software. You have the usual features to tinker around with, including setting upto 5 CPI levels, adjust mouse acceleration/deceleration, set the polling rate, and more. This 12-button panel is the unique selling point of the Aerox 9 Wireless. However, it's also the mouse's weakest feature. Each of the 12 buttons is small and has precisely the same shape. Only the 5 button has a small bump to differentiate it from the rest. In theory, this bump helps users orient themselves. In practice, however, it's not large or distinctive enough to help navigate the buttons during the heat of in-game battle. Even after a few days with the mouse, I could barely tell where any button was, save for the four at the outermost edges. SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless review: Features Like its aforementioned competitors, it does this adeptly, giving you a whole numpad worth of keys to customize to your liking. That's more than enough to contain about 1 and ½ World of Warcraft hotkey bars, every single League of Legends input (with room to spare), or similar numbers of inputs from Final Fantasy XIV, DOTA 2, Lost Ark, Guild Wars 1 or 2, Heroes of the Storm, etc.Forget the spills, focus on the win. The IP54-rated AquaBarrier™ protects the Aerox 9 Wireless from dust, dirt, oil, and debris so you can focus on the game. This barrier shields interior circuitry from virtually all types of environmental damage.
