Bain and Zahnin, two of Circe's personal guards. Oahsee, Bain's wife. Sabine, Zahnin's wife. Zahnin is Lahn's closest lieutenant. Do you have words, sister?” Lahn asked softly. The woman in white stared at him. Then, slowly, her eyes slid to me. Then a small, tragic smile drifted across her mouth and she said one word. First, the use of rape in times of war is not a result of conflicts and not only about sex, but it is a pre-planned and deliberate military strategy and a weapon of war. That he, as their leader, would agree not to rape anyone and thus not use one of their most devastating weapons of war is just not believable. Sexual violence is a weapon of war used to humiliate and terrify, to destroy societies and to eliminate cultural and religious traditions. Especially as it was pointed out in the book, that he as Korwahk King has to lead a strong example and not show weakness to avoid uprisings. I enjoyed this a lot more listening to the audiobook and that’s mostly bc i didn’t have to torture myself w the bad/cringey writing. however, the downside of it was that i couldn’t use Khal drogo’s voice in my head bc of the narrator but wtv you get some, you lose some 🤷🏻‍♀️ Along with several other women, Circe is caged. Provided only scraps of clothing, she is told that she has been selected to participate in a great Korwahk tradition. What tradition? The wife hunt.

But all this doesn't matter to the female mc, for love is more important than such things as equality, freedom, justice and the right to choose. Of all the books in Kristen Ashley's 'Fantasyland' series, 'The Golden Dynasty' was by far my favorite. I love dark, controversial romances that make you love them in spite of all reason. This was one of those stories. I spent as much time cringing as I did smiling, but I couldn't have asked for more. I loved this one! The only thing that could make this book okay is if the author donated all of the money made on it to battered women's shelters to help the women who have suffered the atrocities that she is trying to glamorize in this book. Rape is never romantic. Domestic abuse is never forgivable. Slavery is never acceptable.they don't allow homosexuality and they-?" Diandra shook her head. "No, Dax Lahn does, he does not seem to care. He only punishes those who force it on others who do not wish it” Re-Read Update: Nothing really to add! Just a good, reliable re-read when I'm not feeling my tbr list 😘 Now I'm kinda used to it. And tho I like this couple and story quite a lot, I'm not sure at this point that it's "unique" enough to get 5 stars. In the downfalls of the book, I really missed the elves and the dragons from Fantasyland book 1 and the Korwahk language was a bit hard to get used to especially in the beginning of the book. Also although Circe was mentioned as a witch in the first book, I could not picture this fact in the second book until storms and rainbows have started making appearences in the sky.

Circe was a lot of fun to read, especially the parts when she does something wrong and has no idea about it :D One thing about her I just didn't get and it's the only thing in this book that bothers me, how after three days of rape it takes one touch on her clit for her to be hot for him. Sorry, just don't buy that at all. You’re my gold, nahna xaxsah is my hahnee rah. Kay jahnan nahna lisa, na uvan tee luh kay. Ana kay jahnan nahna pahnsahna, Circe. Kay nayeesan tee. Fahzah.” Re-Read Update: Same as above, nothing much to add. I do wish the ending had more of their HEA though....So, initially you start this book thinking – How on earth am I going to fall for a hero who “claims” (if you haven’t cottoned on yet, I mean rape) his heroine and then keeps doing it over and over again? Well after awhile, his “claimings” takes a turn and becomes a little more, shall we say pleasant. The story comes to life as we get to know the characters and can’t help but fall in love with them.
